I used a humidifier because I was given one, but for the past 2 years I haven't had the need to use it. When I went on trips, I wouldn't bring the humidifier, and found that it really made no difference to my sinuses.Sure makes it easier with all of the cleaning etc.
I asked a resp. therapist about that and she said that some people did fine without it.

I don't use a humidifier
New user less than 2 weeks.
I have not used the humidifier yet. I don't think I will until I am nasally dryer than usual, or see any "sinus signs".
I'm glad I have it to experiment/use when and if I need to.
I went on an overnight away from home this weekend, and was glad to leave it home for a lighter travel case.

Re: I don't use a humidifier
you say you cleaned it every night? lol i know thats what the dme providers tell you to do, but if using distilled water and NOT TAP WATER, you should be able to fill it up and clean it when ever the water is out, i clean mine like once a week if that, im lazy though and have never had an issue with it getting nasty at all if i use distilled water. nothing gets in the humidifer chamber to funk it up anyway loltansey wrote:I notice in my short time here that most of you seem to use the humidifier. I did for the first 2 years as it really dried out my sinuses to the point I was bleeding. But somehow, I don't remember, I got away from it and have no need for 3 years now to use it. It sure is nice not to have to maintain-clean that pesky little thing everyday.
Any of you here not use one?

Well, it's about time for me to chime in.
For my first 5-years on CPAP, now mind you, they had me on the wrong therapy... I didn't use a humidifier. Therapy was hellish enough for me on on straight pressure.
After I found my best therapy with the help of this forum, and figured out that for me a full-face mask was a necessity, I started using a humidifier on a low setting of 1 or 2. Depending on weather, I can just fill the chamber and use it as a passover humidifier, but usually have it set on at least 1.
Without the humidifier I wake to uncomfortable feelings in the sinuses, and with a terribly dry mouth.
Rather than not use the humidifier, I would rather not need to be on PAP therapy at all. But, it has good points... it's helped me to find and feel comfortable with the great bunch of folks who participate in this forum.
