Smart card error code

Post by RachelM » Thu Jun 12, 2008 8:56 am

I have a new Respironics M Series APAP with a new smart card. My old card works fine so my problem isn't with the hardware. The new one seems to be reading but then it stops. Here's the message:

Error Source: Respironics SmartCard type 0.1
Error Number 80040213

Any help??? My DME certainly won't help me on this one.

Don't know what the error code is. You might try formatting it with the utility at mycpap.org. Worth a try.

Tried the above tip and it hasn't worked.

Anyone else out there know what the error code means?

use an erase (rubber type) slowly cleanup teh surface of the gold contact and then try again (inser into the cpap or reformat then try again to read it)......good luck.

Error message occurs when attempting to download from card to Encore Pro.

Where did you get his card from?

Have you tried cleaning the contacts as suggested?

Better yet - what have you tried so far?

This info may change my original question. The problem might not be the card. I got s second card and get the same message, Error 80040213. Could the problem be the Infineer card reader?

Of course, not much technical support available from mfr. or seller.

Don't want to buy a new reader if it won't help.

If this is your Q? - I would say no if you have a card that works in the reader. I lost track of how many cards you have and what works.

You didn't say where you're getting the cards - the only reason that would matter is if the cards are NOT already formatted. Do they beep when you put them in the machine? Do you know how to format them?

Machine- you have 2 and both are M series?

oh Better yet - what have you tried so far?

Thanks for trying to help. Hope this clarifies it all for you.

My previous M Series was exchanged in warranty last week. I have two cards, from the old APAP and the new.

Neither card will download. I don't know what all happened last weekend but it seems crazy that the machine goes out, then the cards won't finish downloading. How could two cards go bad? It does look like the Infineer reader is trying to work.

Any suggestions on is the problem is reader or cards welcome.

The old card used to work - correct? The new card has never worked?

I think it may be a procedural thing. Take the time to tell us - step by step what you are doing!!!

Is the end with the gold contacts going in first or not?

Are the gold contacts on top or the bottom of the card when inserted?

Green/red lite come on solid or flickers? Which color?

Encore Pro has given me problems reading cards before, however rebooting the computer (with the card reader disconnected) and then starting encore pro, and THEN connecting the card reader (after encore pro is running) has always fixed it.

Keep in mind that formatting the card with the utility will not make it work until it is setup with the correct information, like your name. Easier to save the data from a known working card, then write that data to the formatted card. Then it should work. Encore Pro can also write the correct header information to the newly formatted card for you. The biggest problem with the reader is that it loses the driver and you have to unplug it from your computer and plug it back in and let it find the correct driver.

M series machines will not work with Encore Pro version 1.6.22 Database Version 11.
