Announcement: MyEncore Software is now available

Post by derek » Thu Jun 16, 2005 7:20 am

I am pleased to announce that I am now making the MyEncore software program available.

MyEncore is a free add-on program for users of Respironics Encore Pro. It provides user-friendly long-term plots of sleep therapy details from multiple downloads, which Encore Pro cannot do. Please note, however, that MyEncore is not a substitute for Encore Pro - it simply interrogates the Encore Pro database and presents the data in a different format.

The MyEncore web site is:

http://cpaptalk.com/myencore.php

I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the people who helped shepherd the package through the Beta testing phase. The testing took longer than I thought, but hopefully we have got most of the problems solved.

I hope you find it useful. If there are bugs please let me know by PM here.
Enjoy,
derek

[Edited Note: This has been made into an Announcement. Derek, you do our great service to the CPAP community. It's an honor to have you in our cpaptalk family. -Johnny]

Thanks again Derek. I installed MyEncore about a week or 10 days ago. Do I need to install the new version. If so, how do I do that with the older version already on my computer. The version I am running works great and I won't change things unless you recommend so.

Hi everybody,
Re the need to download the latest version - while there is no absolute need if you are happy, I would like to encourage all Beta testers to get the latest version. There were many small bug fixes and improvements made during the testing phase.

I have put a page on the website that details the Beta revision history:
http://lewiston.mit.edu/myencore/revisions.htm
Instructions for uininstalling the old version and downloading the latest are also given there.

Here's a weeks worth of data using Derek's new My Encore.

Must have Adobe Acrobat installed to see these:

http://sawgrasstech.com/apnea/stats2/jd ... _Chart.pdf

Feel free to comment, and enjoy these great graphs! For those who haven't seen them yet.

Oh..forgot.... pressure is obviously set on the APAP, low of 8cm, High of 17cm.

I'm hoping that My Encore over a few months will help me to find the ideal spot to zone in on.

Wow.. Impressive charts! I've been trying to decide whether or not to spend the money on the card reader & software. This helps me see what useful information is available.

Thanks, Derek!

I would like to suggest that those of us who use Professor Derek's software donate some money in his name to a charity of his choice. Derek, any charities you would like us to support?

We are VERY fortunate to have Derek make this program available to us; WHO else has the time, intellegence, and motivation to write such a niche program for no monetary gain? On top of that, Derek is a FULL MIT Professor! Folks, we have one of the smartest engineers in the *world* helping us out. You know the program is good!

THANK YOU DEREK!

Pulse Oximetry

Post by sg » Tue Jun 21, 2005 12:44 pm

The volume and scope of information obtainable is truly remarkable, however, isn't the primary concern of therapy for sleep apnea the assurance of adequate tissue (espscially brain) oxygenation and as such, wouldn't the most valuable data be oxygen saturation? Oxygen saturation monitors are readily available, yet it seems that they are rarely used to assess ongoing adequacy of therapy. Is cost the primary deterrent? Considering the cost of the Encore Pro software, the smart card and the card reader, a pulse oximeter may be a reasonable alternative to monitor efficacy of treatment.

Derek
Very impressive.
Thank you for the many hours you have dedicated to producing such a comprehensive and useful tool, given so selflessly and freely for use by others.
Your efforts are greatly appreciated and you deserve the respect of all.

Derek,
Thanks for developing and and making My Encore freely available. I have successfully downloaded used it and recommend that any other users of Remstar Auto machines that have also invested in Encore Pro with Smartcard reader also down load and install it.
I have no doubt it will greatly assist in revewing the progress of apap treatment and the effectiveness of any changes made to fine tune the setting of the pressure range for the auto cpap, as contrary to the initial impression given by Respironics hype that the auto cpap is a truly self adjusting machine I have found, like several others, that my treatment improved greatly when I refined the pressure setting from wide open (ie 4 to 20 cm) to 8 to 12 cm H2O.
