is an Auto A-Flex device a BIPAP?
Note: edited the title to A-Flex.
CPAP.com defines Auto-AFlex as a BIPAP and request BIPAP Presciption for this device. Is this the case? You be the judge!
Here is the case
On CPAPauction.com I tried to bid on this Auto A-Flex device:
http://www.cpapauction.com/listingPage. ... ingId=6985
I was asked to send my prescription again.
I wonder why, since I already send an and archived a medical presc for auto CPAP
Well, I upload the prescription again and reported this as bug, how come my prescription is lost?
CPAP.com replied that my Presciption is not lost but I am not allowed to bid for a BIPAP, A-Flex is considered by CPAP.com as a BIPAP
My question to you all: is Auto A-flex a BIPAP? In this case I need to visit my doctor again to ask for BIPAP prescription to bid for an A-Flex
The mail exchange btw me and CPAP.com is below
====================
That is an auto-adjusting machine, but it is a
BiPAP, not a CPAP. Your prescription does not
authorize you to bid outside of the auto CPAP
category.

Sounds like somebody's got their wires crossed....... (it would appear to be at CPAPAuction.COM)
The REMstar Auto w/A-Flex is an Auto-CPAP.....(APAP)
You can buy a CPAP OR an Auto if you have a prescription for CPAP.
You can only buy an Auto if your prescription is for an Auto.
You have to have a specific prescription for a Bi-PAP/Bi-Level machine.
I'd call them (again?) and explain what you've got and trying to do. Becky is a long-time employee and knows her stuff.....she was the one who helped me line out my gear the first time. Try asking for her.

It appears the sell "Mainemoose", doesn't know what hes's selling or where. He has listed it in BiPAP. that's why you have to have the BiPAP script. When he figures what it is he has to sell, he can relist it in the correct area. Jim

Yeah, I see what you mean......SOMEBODY put it in the wrong category in the Auction site.....(or doesn't know what they're selling).

"CPAP.com defines Auto-AFlex as a BIPAP and request BIPAP Presciption for this device."
I have to correct this sentence of mine. I contacted the seller and he admintted that he was the one who put this in BIPAP category, which is wrong.
However - Becky from CPAP.com in her reply to me r, just take whatever is stated at face value - and consider A-Flex category as BIPAP correct.
Well, it show that human bug is more serios than software.
Anyway, I think we have a bug in CPAPauction.com categorzation. You can categorize a CPAP device in the wrong category and there is no editing and control.
If I have a DS100, just a plain and dumb CPAP device and purposely categorize this as BIPAP, then it will be accepted as it is?

The Respironics REMstar Auto with A-flex is definitely not a "bipap" (or "bilevel") machine. It is an autopap.
Does sound like multiple wires got crossed.

And, since cpapernewbie hasn't checked his PMs, I'll mention it here that I e-mailed Becky at CPAP.COM to hopefully get this straightened out.

I have dealt with Becky twice: first time due to another bug.
My mask get bid by US buyers but they are all refused.
3 bidders write to me about the refusals.
I tried to explain to Becky that this is abug, but she refused to admit it. I receive one negative feedback due to this bug. I refuse to sell this mask if the bidders is so limited and the other bidders are refused.
I did not saved the correspondence. My negative feedback was recorded eventhough I protested
Unfortunately I stumbled against another bug
This second bug is even more serious. The seller write to me that he can not list this A-Flex as an auto - due to system refusals. It was automatically categorized as BIPAP.
Now theere is already a bidder who bid this as a BIPAP
What will happened will be a disaster. Somebidy is going to spend more than $600 expecting a BIPAP when what he gets will be an auto.

Greetings,
#1 An M Series Auto A-Flex is an APAP. I'm unsure if the email is out of context or what and will ask Becky Monday, but after 3 years of CPAP.com front lines work, I'd tend to believe she knows her BiPAPs from her APAPs.
#2 I looked up your account. You have an APAP prescription on file. The product you wish to bid on is in the Auto Adjusting CPAP (ie. "APAP") category.
To be crystal clear, can you please paste me the message you receive when you attempt to bid? When bidding, please use the price you're willing to pay, because from what I show, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to bid.

Whatever you say, I have documented and saved all the corresponsdence this time.
I think thi is a bug in the cpapauction system that shld be corrected.
For consumer protection - nobody shld be able to list an A-Flex as a BIPAP and this shld be corrected
I tried to bid but as soon as I try, a message come out on the screen that I HAVE NO PRESCRIPTION. Nothing to do with payment etc.
If you chekkc with Becky, the correspondence we have was tiled: "HOW COME MY PRESCRIPTION IS LOST?"
I have to go public with this issue since I am not getting anywhere in my protest with Becky
Pls record this bug and correct this categorization problem
also the message I receive from the system shld be corrected, it is not NO PRESCRIPTION on file but wrong prescription or .....

Dear Forum and cpapernewbie,
I apologize because I should have read the description of the auction more carefully. Cpapernewbie's question was 'why can't I bid on an Auto CPAP?' and I knew the system would let him if he was bidding in an APAP category, so I was focused on the auction category, not the title. The auction number was in the Auto BiPAP category, and M Series BiPAP Auto with BiFlex and M Series Auto CPAP with CFLEX are very similar titles. The seller made a listing error and I missed it.
cpapernewbie emailed me back about the title and I suggested he contact the seller to verify which machine was being auctioned. The seller's response indicated that he had made a mistake in the category so I contacted him, confirmed it, changed the category for him and emailed cpapernewbie to let him know he could go ahead and bid. I also emailed the bidder who had bid with a BiPAP Rx to let him know that he would be unable to place further bids. Since the seller responded so quickly we were able to take care of it all on Friday before end of business.
It's true that sellers can list items in any category they want right now. We audit the listings to try to find errors and we are developing systems to do so, as well as keep incorrect listings from happening. It's a work in progress. With over 400 auctions going last week, it helps to hear from the marketplace about problems or concerns. And usually we are able to respond quickly.
By the way, I am reluctant to correct my boss but I actually started with CPAP.com in May, 2002! What I take most pride in though is that I was John Goodman's first full-time employee when he began his company 15 years ago. It's nice to meet you all.
