I use Black & Decker Electromate 400

Post by Rich03079 » Fri Sep 21, 2007 9:29 am

I use Black & Decker Electromate 400 19 amp/hours of AC power on my Remstar Auto w C flex. When using humidifier off it will run CPAP for 19-hours or 2-nights at the 1-amp/hour drain per Remstar tech-help email request.

For $88 I have backup power

I use Black & Decker Electromate 400

Looks like a good alternative, and slightly cheaper than some of the other one's advocated, like the Xantrex.

Would need a techie to tell me if it's the one for me. I'm dependent on men for their skill with power tools.

LOL,
Barbara

Black & Decker did buy Xantrex, so it now Black & Decker.
Plus these guys make the new Durcell 600 which is $$$ at $120-140 for 28-amp/hour of power.

What do you have....? I am semi-techi, and danagerous so will try to answer correctly !!!!!

This is what I have on order (should be arriving today)

provides 40ah of 400W power. Should be more than enough for any outages that come along.

Should be apx 20 hrs with humidifier, 40 without. I also have a respironic battery pack for camping that will do about 2 nights w/o humidifier. (got this for camping.. getting the other for everyday UPS use mainly)

It would run for 7hrs with humidifier because cpap drains 1amp and humidifier drians 1.7 amps so totao is 2.7 amps, so run 7-hours, and only based on amp/hour from my remstar m as average run As battery is 19 amp/hours as with drain of 2.7 amp/hour it would last 7-hours, but if just CPAP was used it would last 19-hours

Your item is nice, but you then need to add cost and size of battery which your items runs off. Plus you have to arrange location of all this stuff near your bed.

The Black & Decker is one-piece all-in-one solution, and at 19-amp/hours will run most machines 9-hours if humidifier is not run.

Which make it nice & easy for most to setup

It's not really in the description, but it is an all in one unit. It contains the batteries, the size is 19X4X11, so it's not that bad, and I have the room for it next to the wall already.

I will be testing it after it has a chance to fully charge, so I'll let you know how long I get. My goal is to get something that will ride out the occasional outages we get here from thunderstorms, and at most last the night. This should be more than sufficient for that.

I will have to read better in future because now size & ease is nice. Plus how many amp-hours is it...? I assumed being so slim it had no batteries, and that could fit behind the bed nicely!!!!

I am definitely interested for use during possible outages but mine would have to run with the humidifier. It would be worth having just for emergencies.
