The top straps are Velcro attached so that they can be removed for cleaning. The only leakage problems I've had is when I first got the mask and the fine adjustments to get it to fit right. It comes with a flow and leakage chart to make sure everything is working right.
Thanks, that is what it looked like from the pictures,
top straps just velcro, no quick-release, no-release "slot". That means you will be ripping the velcro loose every time you need to clean the mask which isn't hard it just means you will be losing your strap tension settings. Velcro on some headgear give out prematurely when you do that.
Flow chart is to indicate the intentional leak rate or exhaust rate of the mask. Knowing what that particular mask flows @ 10 cm gives a person an idea how much leak can be expected compared to other masks they may have used.
For example, the first Hybrid that came out had such a high intentional leak rate it made for a noisy mask and machine, because the exhaust leak rate was higher than other masks, it made your machine rev up much higher to compensate which made overall therapy more noisy. Then that rate was so high that it caused problems with some autopap machines in providing optimal therapy.
Eventually the makers of the Hybrid came out with a new exhaust assembly to reduce the intentional leak rate, even they realized it was too high.
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
