Pur-Sleep Trial Offer - Strugglers II
I was having some problems with claustrophobia lately and when I got my kit in the mail I tried it immediately. I used the Clear and at first was not sure that I was going to like it but I can tell you it has made the difference in the world. I don't feel so enclosed. Maybe it is the fresh feeling and smell. Thanks so much. I'll continue to use and try the other scents and report back.
That's great! There's some research showing that aromatics can make places feel larger. I would describe the feeling as being very safe--you know you're breathing good air, it's flowing, and everything is ok. When the cpap air is preferable to the ambient air, you find yourself enjoying the cpap air and not worrying so much about the other distractions.xmit1996 wrote:I was having some problems with claustrophobia lately and when I got my kit in the mail I tried it immediately. Pur-Sleep Trial Offer - Strugglers II
I've been using Pur-sleep for nearly 2 weeks now. I like the Clear and Peace together. I find the Clear to be a bit too strong for me. I have been 100% compliant from day one (before Pur-Sleep), looking forward to bed time each night. Pur-Sleep has made sleep even more enjoyable. I tried not using it after a night or two, but I was "hooked"! Thanks for a great product.

Life's too short to spend it worrying about the small stuff - after all, it's just small stuff.
Life's too short to spend it worrying about the small stuff - after all, it's just small stuff.
I've completed 1 month with my pur-sleep. I'll have to say - it's turned into "perfect sleep"! The natural essential oils are wonderful. I never "dreaded" my cpap, but now I look forward to getting into bed, putting on that wonderful mask, and getting that 1st wonderful whiff of a great night's sleep. I've had some terribly stressful days which used to equal stressful nights, but the pur-sleep system - let's say, just puts things into perspective. My hubby always enjoys the scents he can smell and just shakes his head - "Never thought you'd stick with that - thought you'd just trade it along with one of your 10,000 masks!" "And I'm glad you've kept it - we're both sleeping better!" He hates "smelly" things and loves all the scents.
My AHI has lowered to an average of 0.5! I'm not waking up at 2-4 and not being able to get back to sleep.
SleepGuy - thanks for a wonderful product!

SleepGuy and those of you using the oils -- how do they work for those of us with chemical allergies? I have really wanted to try them, but due to my allergies, I have been afraid to try. Do you know of anyone - or do any of you who have tried them have chemical allergies? If so were you able to use them without triggering your allergies?

Sent a PM to SleepGuy on Aug 2, received trial kit Aug 6th!
I have waited to report results because several changes in my CPAP setup and nighttime routine occurred simultaneously, so I couldn't make an accurate assessment....
Night 1: I accidently put at least 5 drops of Spice on the diffuser pad. WOW, is that stuff powerful. The aroma was overwhelming. I tried to ignore the "fumes", but finally had to give in and move the diffuser 3 or 4 inches away from my CPAP air intake. Because I used too much, it was not the experience I had hoped for - my fault entirely, I read a few cautions about using only a drop or two on this forum.
Night 2: My DME called with the results of my titration. She instructed me to change my pressure from 8 to 11. I did use Pur-Sleep Peace (2 drops), but I had a lot of problems adjusting my mask for the new pressure, so I awoke several times, and could not say if the aroma was helpful or not that night.
Night 3: about the same as night 2....
Night 4: changed mask from the Hybrid to my Optilife, because of so many leaks with the Hybrid. Fussed around too much, not a fair assessment for Pur Sleep.
Night 5,6...Hehe, weekend, drank 3 or 4 beers each night, "forgot" to use Pur Sleep
Night 7, Sun Aug 12: used a new pillow I just purchased. My old feather pillow was interfering with my mask too much. Fussed around with it several times that night.
Night 7,8,9: Finally got in the groove. Used just the right amount of "Clear" (2 drops), got used to the new pillow a little more each night, and the Optilife was working good.
The last two nights I actually looked forward to going to bed, couldn't wait to setup the CPAP and Pur Sleep, put on my mask, turn on my MP3 player and Sleeeeeeepppp..............
Did not get out of bed once to go to the restroom (had been up 1 time a night as an average). Woke only once or twice, made a minor adjustment to the mask, and very shortly fell back into a deep slumber. Woke up about 15 minutes earlier than usual FULL OF ENERGY, best rest I have had since I began CPAP 6 or 7 weeks ago.
I cannot say that the entire improvement in my sleep the last few nights was due to Pur Sleep, BUT it was a large contributor. It "adds" something positive to the environment (difficult to describe). It just plain make the entire experience of falling to sleep with CPAP a little more pleasureable.
I will report back in another week or so, after I have had a chance to further evaluate it more. I did not want to wait too much longer inform SleepGuy of my positive experience with this product. THANKS, SleepGuy!

elliejose,
I have had my pur-sleep for about 2 weeks now. I am an asthmatic who has reacted to chemicals very much of the last 20 years. I was hesitant to purchase pur-sleep becasue of this. Thinkgs like perfume make me miserable and I had a tough time justifying the expense.
I am happy to say that things have gone well for me with pur-sleep. My compliance is not at a hundered percent because I keep falling asleep before going to bed. Things have been a bit hectic in my life with my mother being in the hospital and at the moment I am glued to the TV watching a CNN special report on the trapped miners in Utah.

I just haven't been seeing benefits to the Pur Sleep....
I had so hoped to be able to say that it has been wonderful for me like all the others have said. But, I don't seem to get anything from it. It smells nice for about 3 minutes and then I don't smell it any more. I put lots of drops in a lot of different formulas (clean with peace, spice with clean, etc. It all smells good. But I don't seem to notice the smell long enough for it to just relax me and make me happy and sleepy due to this pleasant smell. It doesn't help me get to sleep any sooner, or stay asleep any longer.
I am one of these people that really does believe in this stuff, that is why I am so sad that I am not seeing the results others are writing about. I have continued trying but not much happens.
Any suggestions?''
AM I a loner out here?

elliejose, there are several people on the boards with MCS and/or allergies who have not had any issues with pur-sleep. To the contrary--they love it. Gasp has a thread up right now about asthma and cpap that also talks about pur-sleep. Babette also had reservations about allergies and found the EOs to be great. Feel free to contact either of them directly.elliejose wrote:SleepGuy and those of you using the oils -- how do they work for those of us with chemical allergies? Last march there was a guy with severe MCS who tried it and had no problems at all--in fact, he claimed it solved his cpap problems, which he attributed to the plastic smells. I tried to find the post but those pur-sleep threads from last march are SO long that I gave up trying to find it.... Another forum member from the spring who had worked in the plastic industry for 25 years--and suffered from severe MCS--just couldn't get enough of pur-sleep.
Virtually all aromatics we experience in life are man-made fragrance oils. Essential oils are 100% natural aromatics and are quite different from synthetics. Foo Foo it is not.
