Can Not install Mako Card Reader with Encore Pro

Post by Gordyp » Thu Jul 19, 2007 9:47 am

Yes, I know this is not a new topic and I have read much of the previous literature. I'm only posting this after a week of frustration with this problem. I've tried re-installing both software and hardware several times.

OK! I had the Card Reader and Encore Pro working very well but had to reinstall Win xp because of another problem.

I reloaded the hardware and sofware according to the excellent instructions from this site. I've also updated my USB drivers, thinking that was the problem.

Here is the info I have.

1. There is red light on the reader when I insert the Smart Card.

2. When I loaded the Mako software (Not from the Mako disc, but from a disc I received from this site), there was a "Start service ScardSvr Failed" flag.

3. From Encore Pro I get "Smart Card not Detected" when I try to access the reader. The settings in Encore are set for USB and my other USB devices are working fine?

4. The drivers installed for the reader were inf\2800 2kxp.inf

There's not much more I can add? Any help would be appreciated.

Gordy.

Sounds like the card reader driver program you loaded is corrupt. Reload the driver from the Mako cd this time and try it again. If that doesn't work the Mako web site has drivers.

In Device manager, in XP, Mako 3/12/03, version 1.0.1.4, This is the driver needed.

The Smart card installer is DT3500-EncorePro.exe, size is 6.512 KB, must be installed with reader unhooked. Jim

Do NOT use the Mako Disk that came with the Reader.

Sorry to be slow getting back but I've been away for a few days.

I tried the whole setup process on my second hard drive which has Vista installed and both encore and the Mako Card Reader work well, so I guess the pressure is off for now.

Yes, so now I know it's not a Hardware problem and I'll check the drivers out.

Thanks for the advice..... much appreciated.
