I used Jane Iredale from a local medspa, very spendy and worked fine but the coverage was very light.

I currently use physicians formula (less than 1/4 the price) available at drugstores and target and since I'm a little teeny bit tan from gardening I had to mix the two lightest tones to come up with my actual shade because the lightest was too light and the next one up was too tan. I like it fine.

I have always wanted to try bareminerals (it was the first one out, I think), but again, its spendy.

And now I've seen one at the health food store, but the name is eluding me at the moment. I'm wondering if I should try that one.

I actually have few books about making soaps, but haven't tried it yet. I will someday, I'm sure. It is right up my alley!

I tried bare minerals and itched anywhere it was on my face. Unbearable! They had a hard time believing I was allergic but did accept the return and promptly gave me credit. If it hadn't caused my skin to react, I wouldn't have liked it anyway. It seemed to sit on my skin versus as the advertisement touted becoming invisible. I'm back to liquid foundation - when I wear it : )

Wearing a mask at night has made the skin around my nose even more sensitive - however I'm fortunate that to date no breakouts. Just a slight redness and a feeling of being tender.

Ok guys. Today I went to my best friends sons 7th bday party. Note that I have not been to his bday party since he turned 3......because I was just too tired. So I went.

I did my OCM this morning, put on a quick mascara application and a tiny bit of blush.....didnt even open the blush, just used whatever was left on the brush. So we spend half the day outside in 100 degree weather...then go into her house that has a non working swamp cooler. Her house was just as hot as outside. I was there for like 10 hours....just got home.

My face still looks GREAT! No oil, no grossness. I am so thrilled. If I had been out in the heat like that a month ago I would have had an oily mess going on. OCM is my new best friend. I even told my friend about it....though she seemed a bit weirded out. But maybe after seeing how my face held up today she might rethink it.

Also found this to be the best makeup remover I have ever used. No matter what I used in the past there was always an eyeliner/mascara mess left behind.

I did get a few comments today on how the dark circles under my eyes were almost gone. I was pretty happy about that one.

Wow, I finally got through reading this thread. I'm going to try OCM as soon as I can get the ingredients together and will let you know how it goes with Rosacea. It may be a problem because hot water/steam aggravates Rosacea, and I have only used Cetaphil since I started the Rosacea treatment many years ago. Before that I only used water because anything else put on my face caused breakouts which were Rosacea, but I didn't know it then. Now, I'm having to use California Baby Shampoo for super sensitive skin in the evening before mask use. It has no sodium lauryl sulfate or other chemicals. Here's their website

http://californiababy.com/

The other thing I use to avoid the chemicals is a bar shampoo called J.R. Liggett's. It's pretty pure, too, no SLS and no gluten and no plastic bottle, just a paper wrapper. I don't seem to need conditioner with it. I used it for a long time because it was the only shampoo that didn't cause my scalp to itch. It's now becoming popular and you can take it on the plane with you since it's not a liquid. Here's their website.

http://www.jrliggett.com/index.html

Finally, since some of you seem to have serious skin problems, I'm posting a link to a site for dermatitis herpeteformis, a skin disease that is often diagonised as many others including eczema and psoriasis. The cure for it is a change in your diet. No gluten. Here's the link:

http://tinyurl.com/2furtj

I don't have severe skin problems resulting from gluten sensitivity (GS), only rosacea, which a suspiciously high number of GS folks seem to have. GS is very, very underdiagnosed, more so than sleep apnea, so I occasionally call it to people's attention on this forum.

If anyone discovers they have GS, it is important to get treated because there are many conditions secondary to it, some pretty serious. Then you can join the SA-GS group (I'm the only member so far, but recruiting ) and pay close attention not only to sleeping, but to eating, too!

There are some good books and forums for GS, but also some that are not so good. Let me know if you find you have it and I'll be glad to help (PM me).

BUTTER????? My beeswax is hard. Where do you find soft beeswax? Do you think the beeswax I'm finding is adulterated with paraffin? Are you using it in the heat of the day? I'm thinking maybe I should let it "soften" on top of my hot water heater until it's more like butter....

Well, mine isn't like softened butter, but not hard like wax either. Just a very thick paste. HMMM? I''m not sure. I bought it from a place that primarily sells wooden bowls and utensils. It is called the 'walnut bowl factory" and is on the other side of ST. Louis (west side) on I-70. Just a little shop that sells wooden bowls etc. Very quaint. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have a website. Sorry I can't be more help. Maybe softening it just a touch would do the trick. Mine may have also had a fair amount of honey in it because it is yellow/golden brown and smells heavenly.

Alright, I can see we need to start a NATURAL CLEANING ROULETTE here.

Jen, I need some of your beeswax. What can I trade you? What oil do you have a hard time finding locally? I've found everything here in town, now that I know where to look.

OOO! I CAN SEND YOU BARE MINERALS!

Oh! And BTW, went to TJ's yesterday and read their dish soap label. I think it's probably the same as Planet, but it LOOKED like it might be SLS free, so I bought it. And some CHEAP lip balm! Some of those natural balms are so spendy. Three for $2.49 at TJ's, works good, tastes great, and is 1/3 the cost of the single balms at the other natural foods stores. I'm a lip balm addict, and need to get off my Mentholatum addiction. Dead dinos on the lips can't be good for me.

Maybe I should try the gourmet stores again for beeswax for salad bowls.

LOL,
B.

Boy did you make a mistake there by giving them your address, you are now going to get punished with endless junk mail you had better buy a shredder to protect yourself, they have a habit of printing your name and date of birth on preprinted insurance applications and credit card applications......They are ALMOST as BAD as GOOD SAM's Club

Also don't ever subscribe to an RV magazine or buy anything at Camping World.

Enjoy !!!!!
Well, that explains why I had to buy a shredder and install it right next to the front door...

YAY JENNMARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you that you went to the BDAY party!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know what a significant milestone that is!!!!!!! BIG HUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yay about the OCM too! Hey, I was gonna ask about OCM and mascara. I have a hard enough time keeping mascara on without putting oil on my lashes. Do you use waterproof? I have to, or it's just melting all over my face. I don't know why, but every blink and I've got mascara under my eyes, over my eyes, everywhere. I've tried every brand. I'm currently a fan of some waterproof curve stuff.. Sky High Curves? Can't remember... Maybelline or Cover Girl or something like that.

YAY JENNMARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tsk! Rose, now you've inflamed my hypochondria and I'll have to contemplate this endlessly all week. You apparently missed my SLS anxiety attack last week...

Any club that admits you, I want to join.

And, if OCM doesn't work for Rosacea, that would be good info to note here for future readers. How about I send you a test bottle, so you don't have to spend the money, and can report back? I certainly don't want you to hurt yourself. I know how horrible I hurt when my face is inflamed. It's not just the pain, it's so VISIBLE to everyone...

Cheers,
B.

Once you read the basics on that link you will know for sure right away if it affects you or not. I fortunately do not seem to have it. So, don't spaz, Babs. Sounds like it is rare. And if you have gluten sensitivity you would likely also have some digestive issues going with it.

Honey, I'm the Tsarina of Spaz, you know this... Haven't read it yet, still catching up on email.

I'm so sleep deprived. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Okay, the beeswax/oil mix I bought, thinking it was furniture polish, is actually MADE FOR SALAD BOWLS.....

http://www.chefsplanet.com/products/view/19

I finally managed to decipher the small print today... You know, I probably knew that when I bought it, but it's been awhile between then and now...

Never mind about sending the beeswax, Jen. I suppose a small amount of dead dino is inevitable in my life...

LOL,
B.

I use a water proof mascara. Otherwise it would be all over my face an hour later. I use the 2 sided XXL waterproof.....I think it is maybeline, but wouldnt guarantee it. It has a white undercoat and then the black on top of that. Doesnt smear or give me problems. But the OCM mix takes it off pretty easily.
