Do You still wake up often?
I was wondering how many of you out there still wake several times a night?
I will say that there is a significant difference (for the better) since I started CPAP but I am yet able to sleep for more than 3 or 4 hours without waking. I find it frustrating. I have found pretty comfortable masks and that doesn't seem to make a difference.
I would give a lot to sleep through a night sans medication.

I sleep all night, don't wake even once anymore. I don't toss and turn anymore. I don't take an hour or two to start functioning in the a.m. anymore.
I do have a set bedtime routine, I do switch to decaf beverages after noon, I do use my mask and machine everynight all night. I do not use any sleep aids or take any other meds on a regular basis.

Unfortunately I am still waking up almost every night at least 1 time. Sometimes (usually it is happening around 4 AM I am not able to get back to deep sleep again). Yes, sometimes once in a while I am having what I call perfect night - meaning no waking up from 10 PM to 6 AM. But this is still much better than before I started CPAP.

I wake up two, maybe three times a night. Usually for a potty break.

I rarely get up to do the potty thing anymore. Before CPAP I woke up at 2 AM every morning for that purpose. I wonder why that is, but I'm happy about it.
I do wake up once or twice a night often, though, and I'm able to get back to sleep normally. If I could get my wife to stop bouncing when she turns over in bed that would be a help. Of course it's just payback time for all the times I awakened her with my snoring!

I'm new at this, but before I started CPAP, I never ever woke up during the night. I was always one of those people who would wonder what everyone was talking about when they said, "Did you hear that thunder last night? It was terrible!" Nothing woke me. The past four nights since CPAP, regardless of what time I go to sleep (anywhere from 10:30 to 1:00), I wake up at exactly 3:00. I usually wake up feeling somewhat anxious, get up and get a drink, use the facilities (since from what I hear, that's what people who wake up in the middle of the night are suppose to do!), and take about 30 minutes to go back to sleep. It's a little frustrating, since this stupid thing is supposed to make me sleep better, not worse! On the flip side, though, I am already feeling the positive effects during the day. I have a 1.5 hr drive home from work that used to be really scary, since I was always afraid I would fall asleep. I would often call my husband from the car and make him talk to me just to keep me awake. It wasn't unheard of for me to pull over, set the alarm on my cell for 10 min, and catch a quick nap before continuing on my way. Not this week! No trouble driving home! That alone is worth the price of admission in my book.

I used to wake up every night at 2 am and couldn't even bear the thought of putting the mask back on, so I'd roll over on my side and convince myself that I was really sleeping well in that position. I'm happy to say that I was able to solve that problem over a year ago and literally sleep all night, every night. Keep at it--you'll find something that works for you.

I've been on the APAP maybe 10 days. Frankly, it causes me a great deal of anxiety. It is very difficult for me to fall asleep, and I seem to wake up at least every hour. Yet in the daytime I feel better than before I started treatment.
The other night I decided I wanted a stress free night without the mask. I slept all night long (or at least I thought I did), but was a zombie the next day.
Turns out knowingly waking up every hour with the mask is better than unknowingly waking up 26 times in an hour without it.
I've come to the realization that I am stuck with that god awful mask, and there is no going back for me. Here's hoping time makes it better for all of us...

I started with cpap in early December 2006. Prior to cpap, I was waking up almost every two hours and would need to go pee and get a drink of water, maybe some antacid for reflux. Since cpap, I wake up once, usually about 4AM. I find it a little tough sometimes to get back to sleep since I've already been sleeping for 4-6 hours, but I usually drop off again in about 10 minutes or less. I wake up feeling great. I have been 100% compliant since day one. I'm quite sure that without it, I would by now be dead.
I still wake up usually 2 to 4 times a night. I am actively working with my sleep doc to try to figure out why. I feel I have plain old insomnia (and have had for a long time), and it seems that sleep meds don't work all that well for me.
However, and this is a big however, I no longer have to get up for a potty break when I wake up during the night. Before cpap I was waking for a bathroom trip two and sometimes three times a night. Cpap has not been a cure all for me, but I can see some welcome improvements like this one.

I do pretty good at nite, my problem comes after dinner and before> I get sleepy and fall off, that makes it hard to sleep at night. I go to bed at midnight, and take a hour or two to shut down, after that I'm good for 8 hours, unless it a restless night.
Years of working third shift broke my clock, I function better awake all night. jim
