Encore install help

I received my copy of 1.8i yesterday and can not get to see the smartcard on my vista box or my xp box. Do, I have to use the smart card reader that came with the software? My laptop has a built in. And, my keyboard on my vista box has a built in as well. Any assitance would be great! Maybe I'm doing something wrong to try reading it as well.
I went to smart card utilities and selected preview and get an error (smart card reader not found) I went into preferences and selected the correct device as well.

Encore Pro uses a special smartcard reader. The ones that your machines already have will not work for Encore Pro.

If you got a card reader with your software, you'll need to install the drivers for the card reader before you plug the card reader into your computer.

For XP, you install the card reader driver by running "setup.exe" (or just "setup") from the "Smart Card Readers" folder on the Encore Pro CD.

For Vista, the process is a little different. I dont' have Vista, so I don't know.

You can find more details in viewtopic.php?t=19501 (scroll down a good ways for the details). That's specific to 1.6, but I was able to install 1.8 on XP using those instructions.

If you plugged in the reader before the driver was installed you need to uninstall everything and start all over again. LEARNED THAT THE HARD WAY!
I just want to go back to sleep!

We just installed our 1.8I too.
Same problem with the card reader and we had installed it properly with the reader unplugged.
We have Windows XP Pro and went back to a back up point just prior to installing the encore & reader. My husband also did a file search and deleted all files that had been left in there and re-installed the programs and it went fine...go figure! Don't think we did anything different either.
Just the usual gremlins I guess. J

Where did you find a copy of Encore 1.8i?

If you used the wrong version of the driver installer you only need to uninstall the driver (Control Panel Add/Remove) and then use the correct one. No need to uninstall Encore Pro.

My reader uses the DT 3500 driver that is available on the MAKO website. It found the driver during installation. It may also be on the Encore 1.8i Disk. It is on a older windows 2000 machine and works fine.

Sorry for the delayed response I was able to get it from Direct Home Medical. However I ordered this over a month ago and just got it. Also, another note I ordered 1.6 since this is what they had. However I was very pleased to see 1.8i when I opened the box...
