Battery backup
Battery backup
I have been reading and learning a lot from you guys and have pretty much decided to get the Resp. Battery pack to fill my needs but do wonder whether any of you have had any luck with having your ins. pay for the equipment, I called mine and they said they would but I know how that goes I've been stuck before. And I called the supplier and they told me that they had have not had much luck with ins paying for any battery packs. Also if anyone has any input on anything cheaper out there that I may have missed. I go on a couple of fishing trips each year and it looks as though the next couple are to be camping so I need some power that last around three days. At 17 psi I cannot find anything.[/img]

Do a search for CPAP and "deep cycle battery" ... be sure to click on the Posts radio button down at lower left of search page.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

I think we're on our own with battery packs. If you need to get a battery that'll go long, marine deep cycle is the way to go from what I understand. I've rigged up a system for myself and posted the parts list and photos:

Note, what I reference as a "DC power supply" is really just the plug with a cigarette lighter adapter.
Here's a good source of batteries that'll work, though they're not deep cycle:

Good luck,

I recently purchased for $69 from Wal Mart, a jump starting device that can also be used for portable 12V DC power. It has two lighter sockets. It is rated at 22 ampere hour, with 600 cold cranking amps. It is essentially a sealed 12V lead/acid battery with a built in AC charger. I put a full charge on it and I'm going to try it out for the first time tonight. I intend to not recharge tomorrow and again use it tomorrow night. I'll try to post the results when I can see how many hours of sleep time I can get from this from one charge.

momsworry,
I have the same setup from Wal-mart for home backup and it works great, I've used it for 3 nights straight without a problem.
It ran my M series auto (pressure 9-16) for 9 hours a night for 3 nights and it still had power to spare.

But you can't run your humidifier with that set-up, right?sleepingBear Posted: Wed May 23, 2007 1:01 pm Post subject:

You are correct, no heated humidifier, but you can run the humidifier in passover. For me this is not a problem for a couple of night.

Wal-Mart camp solution
How long does that Wal-mart system take to recharge? Did you get more than 3 nights? How many hours per night were you using it?
I am very interested in finding an easy way to get through about 10 days of camping. I would have access to AC current to charge at times throughtout the 10 days. Could you provide some additional information on what model you have from Wal-mart? Thanks!

MIne is called "Dynamite Auto Power" Model No. DP600. I can't tell you for sure how long it takes to recharge, as I plug it in when I leave for the day and when I get home, whenever I think of it, I check it to see it is fully charged and I stop the charging process. I slept two full nights plus one 1.5 hour nap with it recently. In the brochure that comes with it, it says that for estimated wattage drawn of 5 watts, it should last 40 hours. Wattage drawn of 10 watts would last about 21 hours and 15 watts about 15 hours. I'm not sure what my machine draws for watts, need to research that I suppose. That's about all I can tell you at this point. I'll add more as I discover things. The good thing about this unit is, I can also when fully charged, jump start my truck, or if it's along in the boat, give a boost to a failing deep cycle battery for the trolling motor or other boat electronics. I see this thing as a really good device for my life style. We have a lot of thunderstorms here this time of year, and if there are warnings posted, I'll just plug into this DC source from the get go and forget about any power outages or spikes from AC current on the expensive equipment.
