No Luck

Post by Fenway3199 » Sun May 20, 2007 12:34 pm

After 6 months of working very hard at CPAP I still can not sleep longer than 1 - 2 hours with it. I have tried new masks, lower pressure and sleeping pills. No matter what I try i can not sleep longer than 1-2 hours with CPAP>

Are there any other options out there.

Has anyone had success with a dental device?
Has anyone had success with surgery?

I am open to any ideas, I want to make this work. I want to feel better!

I've found that patients do not tolerate higher pressures with nasal pillow masks. You might considered a nasal or full face mask. Or a bipap system, several of my patients who were on high pressures, did much better with a bipap system.

have you considered trying hypnosis, or getting advice from a psychologist on methods to lie very calm and wait for sleep? I may be crazy, but it helped me to talk to myself about the CPAP as I got into bed, and say "I love you, little CPAP because you are going to keep me alive and healthy." It helped me change my thinking, and overcoem my sadness at needing the device.
