Corporate Ways

Post by gasp » Thu May 03, 2007 10:13 am

I believe equipment manufacturers would not use forum members support of equipment to change their equipment design or for any other decision-making. Instead, they would probably rely on feedback from focus groups, doctors, sleep centers, and DMEs.

Personally, I place more value on what I've learned here - but then, I'm not a corporation.

Chuck, I think it's entirely ethical to make new users aware of the pro-Respironics lopsidedness and even vitriol that is frequently displayed on this message board. However, I vehemently disagree with that extra and "indefensible" dot-connecting step that you took next: you attributed the above pattern of message board behavior to: 1) a specific ethical infraction being committed by, 2) specific types of message board users, in conjunction with 3) a specific manufacturer.

Chuck, the fact that you have repeatedly identified a specific manufacturer being engaged in a particular ethical crime with specific types of message board members---and then admitted that your own incriminating accusations are both "irrefutable" and "indefensible"---is precisely what reminds me of certain historical jurisprudence travesties entailing highly unjust condemnation. In those historical eras superficiality and suspicion also ruled the day, to the tragic demise of many who simply did not deserve the imprecision, injustice, and even cruelty of the "vigilance men" of those days. In my opinion you really would have served new users very well to emphasize the observable part I have underlined above. But to characterize that into a highly specific crime of ethics is another thing altogether.

In my opinion anyone who steps up to the podium with highly-specific incriminating crimes had better provide more supporting evidence than simply admitting their own allegations are "irrefutable and indefensible". Otherwise we socially risk slipping right back into....

As am I. Please don't take to heart that I simply happen to vehemently disagree with you, Chuck.

-SWS, kinda looks to me, based on the definition provided earlier in this thread, like an instantiation of Godwin's law, here.

Yes, I understand. So you crafted a huge post about it, chastised a board member for not being more open minded to your view point and then get annoyed with me when I'm surprised that you'd do this all over something that you admit is neither here nor there? I see.
"Neither here nor there"???? Not hardly what I said. In fact, I believe that my caveat is of vital importance to the abilties of users of this forum to fairly evaluate the information they view here.

Please don't put words in my mouth again.

Godwin's Law sure looks awfully regime-specific to me. I didn't see any mention of McCarthyism or Salem anywhere in Godwin's Law. And I didn't see any mention of Godwin's covered regime in my own posts above.

Truth be told I never heard of Godwin's Law until this thread. Put me down as appreciating Godwin's Law as long as it doesn't subvert key lessons from history.

I'm really sorry that I jumped on this thread this morning, and now I'm committed to seeing it through to its bitter end.....

However, for anyone who's in the mood for levity, I just can't resist sometimes...

This thread reminds me of CPAPer's Law - For every blow, there is an equal and opposite blow.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Toyota is better than Honda. I have experience with both so I know this to be true and true in the case of all models. Now I could be posting from Japan, which could mean that I am being patriotic and at the same time unpatriotic. If I am posting from America, then I am being patriotic or maybe unpatriotic to their American subsidiaries. Perhaps they formed those corporate subsidiaries on purpose to confuse people about whether or not they are patriotic or unpatriotic.

Even though BOTH of these corporations have had recalls for defective products, perhaps the question should be WHEN did they know that they needed a recall. And what, if any, relationship exists between changes to the price structure and recalls?

If someone disagrees or has another opinion, then perhaps they represent one of the mfgs. Someone could be a mfg rep, a dealer (and don’t let me get started on the dealers), or a shareholder. Or they could be a corporate-fan or a model-fan. I don’t have anything against corporate-fans or model-fans, but am somewhat careful about the opinions of the ‘classic-model-fans’. And you know who you are.

Please note that I am not affiliated with any group, except the sleep apneacs’ group. And last, but not least, let me be the first to say that I disagree with everything that I’ve written in this post. So there.

But then again, neither company has refused to sell me a car, or to sell me needed parts, to make my driving experience better, or tried to set prices on the local dealers, so their brick and mortar dealers, could go on overcharging for products. Jim

[quote="mth712"]Goofyut - How about you write at about 9th grade level and quit trying to come across as some genius on the forum. I get tired of reading your self important writings. Anyone can write intelligent these days with all the knowledge you need to do so at your fingertips. If you actually talk like you write you must bore the hell out of everyone around you. This goes out to several of the writers in this thread. You know the "regulars" with super high thread counts. You know what I like about two people with high thread counts on here, restedgal and blarg, they are smart people that don't have to try and prove it to everyone. This is a forum for CPAP and that is all. Go practice your self absorbed look at how smart I am writing on a mensa board.
