I'm just wondering if I'm the youngest person that belongs to this forum. I am 37 years old, will turn 38 on August 1st.

While we are at it we might as well fess up and give age and height/weight .

I'm only 35. I'm short and fairly thin. My docs didn't even think of Apnea for many years. Always some other excuse (working, 2 little kids, grad school.....) I actually had my 1st sleep study 9 days after my 35th birthday.

Great topic, just got back from an out of town trip. I am a mathematical consultant, so you post me your kids' math questions.

Well obviously spelling and typing aren't my strengths. But if you send me your kids math or SAT questions I will try to send a reply that makes sense to people who don't 'get' math.

I enojyed this thread. It was great reading about all of you. I am glad to know what everyone does. It makes me feel connected to you.

I wondered the same things, but was afraid to ask. 34 (was diagnosed at 33), 5'6" and 115 lbs. Crazy isn't it? Just goes to prove really anyone can have OSA.

WOW,

I'm not alone as far as age goes.

When I went to the ENT the other day. He said "we met back in 1998" Now I remember seeing him. He said I was there for a swollen uvula. I was looking over at the chart as he read "I suggest she have a sleep study as it appears she may have sleep apnea"

Funny, either I don't remember this or was in complete denial. I know I thought it was pretty funny that I snored and we always cracked jokes about it but when my Canadian MD started talking to me seriously about this sleep apnea thing back when I was depressed, I started to take it serious. He mentioned Reggie White...bla bla bla....

Anyway, I think I've had it for a very long time. I remember when I weighed 135 wearing a size 8. I'm 5'4 but no one ever believes me when I tell them how much I weigh. They always think I weigh less. Anyway, I'm now topped out at 214. I seriously think it has lots to do with the OSA as well as being a farmers wife. MEAT & POTATOES!!!!

Well, we are all in this together, isn't this great!! I am fascinated by all of the diversity around here.

Weight -- are you kidding?

Post by glassgal » Thu Mar 31, 2005 9:36 pm

Hi everyone!

I am 55 years old and I will only say that I shop in the plus size department!

I believe that I have had sleep apnea for decades. My kids used to make fun of me a lot when they were little, and they are 28 & almost 30 now!

I hope that I will be able to start exercising soon. Right now I am fighting off a stubborn case of bronchitis, and when I go outside, talk or get cold, I cough! I am so tired of this! It has been going on for over a month now.

I am, however not falling asleep at work any more (when I am able to GO to work). That is very good! And I have been mostly compliant -- one night when I had a fever I got annoyed and threw the mask on the floor.

Sleep well,

Jane

I will show you mine, if you show me yours!!!

That would be a fun idea if anyone wanted. I'm just not sure how to do it. I have a scanner but haven't played around with it much. Too many kids to take care of....

What an interesting thread indeed. I head up quality control at an automotive plant in southeast MI. Its a decent start for hopefully a wonderful career I have chosen.

As far as age goes I am 28 yrs old, I believe that to be the youngest mentioned so far. I am 6'3" 345 lbs. I have lost weight since being diagnosed two years ago when i weighed about 370. I actually carry the weight fairly well (built on a rather large frame) but my playing weight for football was closer to 280.

I love this forum you guys are all great.
Its always breezy in here....

How about using our pictures as avatars? Mind you, I'm not cleaver enough to know how to do it, but I'm sure some of you are I'm up for it and I promise to use a recent pic rather than one from 20 years (and 50lbs) ago

Telling All

Post by Marie » Fri Apr 01, 2005 6:05 am

Ok,here goes: I am 60 years old, very soon to be 61.I am 5 feet 4 inches tall, and weigh,oh dear, do I really have to tell my weight?

I weigh 213,but an attractive 213,if there is such a thing. Am I in denial???
I think I am.I hate to see those numbers on the screen.Reality right in my face!!
Started going to Weight Watchers, but my moving to a new home put a stop to that. Need to start back again, since things have started settling down.

At the age of 60,it is really hard to take off those pounds, especially if one doesn't exercise.Especially for women,I think all of you women know what I am talking about. But,this is a different subject that I have started, and I think I am rambling,so I will stop.

Marie, telling all to folks I don't know, but seem very very nice, and very very helpful. And,I must say hilarious.
