CPAP Humidifier Pushing Water Drops Through Hose

Post by JeffNC » Sun Aug 17, 2025 7:29 am

I have a Resmed AirSense 10 CPAP with a humidifier; I need and depend upon this feature.
Problem: the humidifier has now started passing water droplets through the hose (hence into my nose) while I am sleeping (or TRYING to sleep).
Has anyone else eve had this problem? If so, is it "solvable" at home, rather than having to send the CPAP out for repair or having to replace it?

You may have a problem with condensation...It's called "rainout". Condensation is formed when your room temperature is lower than the air in the hose, If you are using a heated hose, set it to auto. Check out this web site... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctw73sdPU6k.

unfortunately this is not a matter of sending it off and having it repaired. it's a very individual thing. I went though this last year.

what it boils down to is you having to change settings on your machine. you know how to do that, right?

Last might, I tried not filling the water reservoir to capacity; really, I put very little in at all. Guess what? NO water got into the hose or the mask, I slept for 9 peaceful hours and there was STILL a little water left in it this morning! Whether it "should" operate this way or not, at least I've learned "the trick"!

Thanks for the suggestions!

Jeff

Trick? You found something that worked for ONE night for YOU.

I hope it continues to work for you throughout your life.

I would not recommend this to anyone else.

Last night I had pizza for dinner.

I did not experience any rain-out. In fact, I can say with 100% authority, I have never experienced rain-out, on nights that I have had pizza.

I like my trick better than yours.

Put your CPAP machine lower than your head.

Put your CPAP machine lower than your head.
that has been found to be ineffective.
