I'm Back and Looking for More Help

Post by Iancdub88 » Sat Mar 15, 2025 8:51 am

Hey, everyone. It's been a couple of months and I always appreciate the help I get on here. I've been doing better but I still have a lot of arousals and I can't figure out how to get rid of them. I fully understand that it could be unrelated to machine settings but I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas. A sleep tech I worked with suggested turning easy breathe off but I couldn't fall asleep with that setting turned off. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have an SO that might be able to notice how you sleep? Specifically, leg jerks? There might be evidence of PLMs (and if you thought it was taking artistic license identifying arousals in SleepHQ/Oscar, looking for PLMs is like an entirely different planet).

My wife doesn't notice anything like that but she is a very sound sleeper. Sorry, what are PLMs?

Periodic Limb Movements. Would've been picked up on a real NPSG, but not on a WatchPat. Also, some anti-depressants can make them worse.

It would make sense. I do take Citalopram for depression. And I did just have the watch pat test done.

The other thing is I don't remember most of the arousals. I feel like I'm sleeping through the night but then I see them on my charts and I'm still pretty tired during the day.

And here's last night's:

Is it possible it's not as bad as I think it is? I mean, it looks like I'm sleeping, right?

I'm sorry to be annoying. I'm just not getting much help from my sleep docs, primary or psychiatrist right now.

Depends how bad you think it is.

Pretty much. There are a certain amount of arousals, awakenings and wake (sleep efficiency) that is considered normal. Staging sleep with pneumography is like really Flintstone tho.

Why do you stay with them then?

So I read your 197 posts and reviewed about 16,000 breaths. Your early SleepHQ links have expired. I have a couple requests.

Who decided or what did you base machine and settings changes on?

Post Oscar Overview of ALL the data.

Post the sleep log you're keeping.

You didn't have to do all that. Thank you.

I have mostly changed the settings myself hoping it will help but I have gotten permission from sleep docs. You're right, I do need to find new doctors, my insurance is just making it near impossible to go out of network.

Is this the data you need?

Also, I apologize, I have been awful about keeping a log.

No, all the way back to June 27, 2024.

Specifically, was there any objective justification for changing parameters.

Can you tell me how to get to it? I'm kind of bad at navigating OSCAR.

As far as changes go, I switched to bilevel in September because CPAP was extremely uncomfortable and I just could not get used to it. I also have a very small airway and suspected UARS. The sleep tech I've worked with thought that my pressure was too low to prevent arousals so I've been slowly raising it but that doesn't seem to have prevented them.

At this point, I'm totally used to the mask and pressure - I hardly even notice I have it on but I still have these arousals and I'm still pretty tired. I do recognize that my fatigue could be other things though. Meds, depression, anxiety, they can all cause fatigue.

On the bottom of the Overview page choose custom and select like the first 3 months.
I do recognize that my fatigue...
Fatigue? xPAP does nothing for fatigue. It only fixes sleepiness caused by sleep-disordered breathing.

Watch-PAT was the only sleep study you had?

It's only going back to September when I got the bilevel.

I meant sleepiness. And yes, watchpat was the only sleep test I had.

No prob. Post the SleepHQ dashboard share link for the early days.
