I started out using just nasal pillows but being a mouth breather I couldn't keep my mouth shut even with a chin strap. Nasal pillows eventually irritated by nose. I eventually switched to an F&P Vitera full mask. That has worked well but leaves my face red and with an outline of the mask! 😂 What has helped was putting on Aquaphor immediately upon waking up which at least takes out the red! So I was thinking of trying the ResMed 30i but it looks like it's just a nasal pillow mask that happens to cover the mouth as well? Is that a correct assessment? Thinking I might try it, always good to have a backup mask. TIA

No. The ResMed AirFit F30i is a legitimate full-face mask. It does not have pillows. There are slots in the top of the mouthpiece which line up with the nostrils. It is one of the FFMs with the smallest footprints and lightest weights.

This and similar masks have revealed the inaccuracy of the nomenclature "full-face mask". Oral-nasal mask is a better term.

What's the difference between the AirFit F30i and the Dreamwear Full Face Mask? They seem very similar to me.

They are similar. I have both but settled on the Airfit. Here are the deciding factors.

1. After three or four successive nights of use, the DreamWear is designed such that the nasal opening wears a painful cut where it touches the underside of the nose just above the upper lip. The AirFit has nasal openings for each nostril. The part of the silicone that divides the nostril openings prevents cuts.

2. The AirFit F30i has a very convenient and easy-to-use quick release for the hose attachment to the mask. The DreamWear has a hose release that is neither convenient nor easy to use - a really stupid design.

Thank you. Interesting about the nasal design. But my Dreamwear FF has a quick release for the hose to the frame. The piece from the frame snap into the hose and it also pulls out quite easily. But I may explore the F30i. Thanks again.

Interesting. I've had my DreamWear FFM for a few years. Maybe they redesigned the hose release. It sure needed a redesign. The poor design has been noted by others in the forum. One called it the quick release that is not.

Thank you! That helped very much and I'm going to give the ResMed 30i a try!

Carefully watch some youtube videos about fitting and adjusting this mask.
