Encrypted Data: Philips Lays the Blame on SoClean
This morning there was a newsletter from apneaboard that contained the following.
Re: Encrypted Data: Philips Lays the Blame on SoClean
Arrogant you think?
For how many years has Phillips allowed access to granular patient data. During those years did they promote, encourage or support a product that permits patients to view their granular data, or did they permit patients access, while not supporting, encouraging or promoting. (I seem to recall that I once purchased (as a patient) Encore software and a card reader from Phillips - would that not be supporting?)
I think Phillips might be on the wrong side of transparency
(I have access to my hospital medical records, including raw X-rays. What I do with those raw films or digital images is of no concern to the hospital. On the other hand If I were to tell a hospital that I was intending to use those films to sue them, well I'd expect that they might want to encrypt those digital images).

Re: Encrypted Data: Philips Lays the Blame on SoClean
We can blame Philips all we want but people need to realize who the real customer is in all this and who Philips really wants to keep happy and who started this whole encryption mess....and it wasn't Philips worried about patients who go changing settings based on software results.
Doctors and DMEs....that's the real customer and who Philips wants to make happy.
They are the driving force behind the new restrictions in regards to data availability or hell, even the changes in the machine settings that patients no longer have access to and are forced to contact the ever elusive "Care Orchestrator" for something as simple as auto on/off feature. Geezzzz... What's next? Mark my words this is just the beginning of things that we as patients are going to see happen that we don't like.
https://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php? ... 5#p1396965
Care Orchestrator...fancy name for DME or doctor access software.
Remains to be seen just how detailed it might be and good luck getting any patients to have access to it.
I can hear them now...."we will handle everything. You don't need access and won't understand it anyway" ....
"DreamMapper gives you all you need to know and we will handle the rest".. Pardon me while I don't hold my breath.
The medical profession still living in the dark ages where patients are considered too stupid to manage their own care.
This stuff isn't the rocket science they try to make it out like it is.
FWIW...which I know in the grand universe of cpap stuff isn't much....I am so pissed at this attitude from everyone involved. Never ever will I recommend any sort of Respironics product to anyone.
Everyone...go to the apneaboard link above and read the entire letter from "Mikel" that is posted.
What a load of BS.

The effed-up byotches in the old Respironics division should look at some things Philips is doing in other areas.
https://www.philips.co.uk/healthcare/in ... asestudies
The top management of Philips should clean house of the Respironics management.

Below is a paragraph from Philips Care Orchestrator user setup and use website. There is a statement within that suggests patients are allowed read only access. Should this be taken that if I can get my sleep doc or DME to allow me access, I should be able to view data of my DS2 via Care Orchestrator?
https://www.careorchestrator.com/proxy/ ... trator.htm
"Care Orchestrator is intended to support clinicians by tracking data on patients who are prescribed compatible therapy devices in accordance with the intended use of those therapy devices. Care Orchestrator provides remote patient data collection and viewing and is intended to be used by healthcare representatives (e.g., Physicians, Clinicians, Clinical Users / Clinical Assistants , Durable Medical Equipment providers) in conjunction with compatible non-life support therapy devices to adjust prescription and/or performance settings. Care Orchestrator allows read-only access to patients. Care Orchestrator is intended to be used in hospital, institutional, provider, and home care settings."

Eff that--in spades!
No thank you.
Does anybody have half a CLUE how thinly spread providers are already?
The orchestra pit is EMPTY!
The owner of that clusterfreak is Philips/Respironics ALONE!

Re: Encrypted Data: Philips Lays the Blame on SoClean
I've had a peek at the system. For CPAP, all that is recorded is compliance data and AHI. For Respironics Trilogy ventilators, add SPO2, respiratory rate, and average minute ventilation.
The selling point for medical professionals is to help manage a larger patient population. The professionals will spend less time with the patient in the office or on the phone.

This is an outstanding discovery! It looks like there is a Role for just viewing patient data, here:Grumpy48 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 06, 2021 5:49 pmBelow is a paragraph from Philips Care Orchestrator user setup and use website. As this Role can only be given to a new User by an Administrator or Clinical User, we are dependant on the willingness of our DME's. Furthermore, I expect problems to make a user at home able to log in to their Care Orchestrator. Though explicitly mentioned....
I wonder whether anyone here or on another Forum, will be able to convince their DME to do so...!
EDIT => There also seems to be some stand-alone software for DreamStation 2: Care Orchestrator Essence. Found here:

We don't know, as no user (i.e. non-DME) ever has been granted to buy it AFAIK...

Re: Encrypted Data: Philips Lays the Blame on SoClean
The Mikel Becks quote gives away the general mindset in the first paragraph:
"The result of this exercise is DreamMapper where the necessary therapy data is offered with the necessary support to achieve adherence (instructional videos, motivation)."
It's all about the adherence. I saw no mention in there about the efficacy of therapy. I'm done with them (Philips) and if Resmed goes this route too I'll just try and stock up on "vintage" machines so I have enough to last until I'm dead (barring any more recalls)
I'd like to send Mikel Becks the bills from my provider for optimizing my therapy. But there are none today as I've managed to do it for free with data, Sleepyhead, now Oscar, and this forum.

When you take care not to click all the wrong Download buttons, you end up on a Philips' informational site with a form to ask for information..KrisCrossed wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 9:03 pm@A KLERKI found a site that offers a download of "Care Orchestrator Essence" (see link) but I have NO idea if the site is safe.
