Need Help With OSCAR 1.3.0 Issues

Post by USN1Guy » Fri Oct 29, 2021 5:35 am

While, I’ve been a SleepyHead // OSCAR user for many years, I’ve had little reason to request help with my CPAP monitoring software. That changed with OSCAR update 1.3.0.

The OSCAR update to 1.3.0+ee0520b2 introduced a glaring problem. It deleted the Flow Rate waveform that was previously available prior to the recent update. To me, the flow rate data is an important parameter to monitor. Despite careful review of the OSCAR ‘Preference’ settings I can’t recover any flow rate waveform information.

So, I’m looking for a source of expertise to help me with an obvious problem with the new OSCAR software update.

Here’s my CPAP device info.
Philips Respironics
DreamStation Auto CPAP
PAP Mode: AutoCPAP
Min 8.0 Max 9.0 (cmH2O)

Here’s supplemental info.
OSCAR 1.3.0+ee0520b2 (winnt x86_64)
Built with Qt 5_ 12_ 1 O on Oct 15 2021 20:58:33

My Operating system: Windows 10 (1 O_O)
Graphics Engine: 3.0 fvlesa 12.0_0-rc2
Graphics Engine type LegacyGFX

I’d appreciate being pointed toward a source of expertise that would help me recover the flow rate wave form.

Thanking you in advance, Patrick

I suspect that your Flow Rate graph got turned off somehow, but you can turn it back on. In the bottom right corner of OSCAR is a small menu widget, probably labelled 'Event Flags', but maybe not. Click on the little triangle and the menu will open up. Near the top you will see 'Flow Rate' - if it empty, click on it to make the chart appear. If it is already checked, click twice on it to clear and the set it, in an attempt to make it appear, and please report back.

Thanks pholynyk,
Yes, I checked what you suggested. Your description was accurate except that FLOW RATE was not included in the list. There were six waveforms listed. These six waveforms are the only graphics I can display. They are.
EVENT FLAGS
SNORE
LEAK RATE
PRESSURE
AHI
TIME AT PRESSURE.
When I mouse over this spot on the screen it displays a content description that reads, "Show/hide available graphs" I have all six items checked and the do display. I've even unchecked a few items just to see if othe waveforms will become available. They do not.

FYI In the Files>Preferences display I do have the FLOW RATE waveform checked.
Of possible interest, when look back at previous nights data before the 1.3.0 update, the FLOW RATE data that once displayed is no longer shown.

Another problem with the recent update is one that involves the loss of connectivity with the data card when leaving/closing OSCAR. The card reader's green stays on but the OS doesn't see the card. This issue is secondary to the loss of the FLOW RATE waveform.

Thanks, Patrick

Did you have the SD card in the machine all night long?

The list of graphs is not normal -- many graphs are missing.

Use Help > Troubleshooting > Create ZIP of diagnostic logs and attach that zip file to a post here so we can see if there is a clue in the logs.

Here are some things to try to help isolate the problem:

See if View > Reset Graphs > Standard helps.

Do you have another profile in your database? Is the flow graph missing from that profile too?

Create a new profile, import some data, is the flow graph present or missing?

as requested almost exact same error
i wonder if this has to do with the SD card having been in the DS2 before i opted for my oral appliance

i'm wondering if the SD card not being in the machine was the problem (not the app) the source data (or lack there of) either that or july was before i got my new DS2 garbage and the DS2 encryption isn't showing the totality of the graphs/waveforms. at one point they were all showing and now they aren't. i'll have to go back and look more closely at dates and machine registration etc. i'm too tired RN lol

The OP did not respond to my last suggestions, so I don't know what happened. Certainly I didn't make any changes to OSCAR.

The little warning triangle just means that you aren't seeing all the graphs, as the notation "4 of 6" would also indicate. But the total number of graphs being as small as 6 indicates a problem. You should be able to click on that "4 of 6 Graphs" button and see 6 graphs, two of which are not selected. Select those two and you should have 6 graphs.

I would like to look at your data file to see what is going on. If you are willing to send that to me, use Help > Troubleshooting > Create zip of all OSCAR data to create a zip file. Then upload the zip file to my Dropbox folder. Please include your forum name in the zip file name so we know who the file is from. I'll look into the problem and see what is going on.

No intention of hijacking this thread but I wanted to report that I am seeing a very similar problem today (thus a search landed me here). I use OSCAR regularly and today the flow rate graph disappeared (using ResMed S9 VPAP). Lots of other kinds of data are there (as usual) but flow rate is missing... if I select days prior, I see the flow rate graph... just not for last night. I tried the graph view reset, no change, it's not shown or in the lower right drop down options.

A day or so prior I did forget to put the SD card back in and used the machine... but not last night. Not sure if that is a contributing factor. Also, I use a wellvue logging Oximeter for last night and imported that in as well (as I routinely do without problems). All the Sp02 (etc) data looks fine.

I would very much like to look at your data file to see if a) I can reproduce the problem here and b) if I can reproduce it, figure out what is happening and either explain or fix it. See my previous post for directions on uploading files to the OSCAR developers.

Thanks!

I'd be glad too....I uploaded it to your dropbox... it's a big file, sorry.

I've had another anomalous night last night.... I believe this problem might be triggered when you have multiple "sessions" during the night (i.e. stop machine for bathroom, then restart). My 1st session of the night is missing a bunch of stuff like leak, pressure, snore, apena flags etc... the 2nd "session" has everything.

It's entire possible my machine is dying or doing something weird and the data just isn't being recorded for some reason. It's kinda old.

I'm a software developer myself so glad to help.:-)

I don't know if it matters.... but dates for the sessions changed (as kind of expected).

I started the night on 2/24, stopped the machine in the middle of the night, then restarted... the 2nd session got timestamped at 2/25.

However the viatom session never stopped (because I didn't take the oximeter off) and remained as 2/24.

I see both problems in the data you sent me. (fyi, your problem appears different than of the OP's )

I've not seen those problems before, so it will take a little troubleshooting.

I need to see your SD card data now, to see if I can determine if the problem occurred during importing or later. Could you zip your SD card (Help > Troubleshooting > Create zip of CPAP data card) and upload that to my Dropbox folder. Please include your forum name in the zip file name so we know who the file is from.

Ugh... bad news there... I put my SD card back in my machine last night and it said it was corrupt and wiped it out(reformatted).

This happens from time to time despite the fact that I lock the SD card before I put it in my computer to be read.

I'll grab all of this the next time I capture a scenario like this.

P.S. I'm probably running afoul of thread hijacking rules... sorry about that.
