Had a long talk with my DME. I realize the information I have may already be out there, but just to add my report of what I've been told. . .

Phillips hasn't said when they will start. As others have pointed out, they are awaiting FDA approval of their plan.

My DME has only been told what Phillips intends to do for CPAP users of Dreamsatation 1--they have said they will replace those units with new Dreamstation 2 CPAPs instead of repairing. So good news is CPAP users may get a sooner solution and new machines. Bad news for those who use OSCAR.

My DME has been told nothing for users of any other type of machine. Of course part of that may be they only have Dreamstations out for CPAP. Maybe they'll do the same thing once the corresponding model becomes available, and maybe they'll repair or replace with refurbished DS1. They don't know.

No word on what they'll do for System One owners. I have a hard time seeing hey'll replace those with new DS2s.

Resmed is prioritizing supply to those DMEs who have been good customers. My DME only sold Phillips (claimed due to Resmed not honoring warranties), so Resmed allowed them to order few at first, and has now cut them off.

OSCAR works great with my new ResMed Airsense. I would be more than thrilled if Philips would send me a Dreamstation 2 to replace the Dreamstation 1. It will be a great deal for someone on Craigslist or even on here for those that would like a new upgraded Dreamstation. I hope Philips has my address or knows how to reach me, 'cause my DME is closing their doors July 31st.

I'm using my old system one bipap P750 that's about 8 yr since I bought it as a backup.

Its very noisy. Last night, after a couple of hrs of not sleeping, I took it off and used my MAD insert. I probably slept 3.5 to 4 hours.

So, I'm getting frustrated. What should I do? I noticed that one poster said a DME in his location had some Resmeds at a reasonable price.

Since I probably need one as a backup anyway, if you were me, would you go ahead on my own and see if I can get one? (an airsense 10 autoset would probably do the job)

if you need a new backup, and can afford to pay out of pocket one of the DME ones, then why not? When your new Resmed bilevel comes in that becomes primary, and the other becomes backup. That way, you don't have to worry about the noisy backup suddenly failing with no alternative.

I wish I had that option from my DME, but they've only been selling Phillips, so they don't have any Resmeds laying around.

What is a ballpark figure for a good used machine?
Can we trust a seller we don't know, or should we go to a bonafide MDE supplier, as opposed to craigslist, and other non-health companies?

I don't have a lot of experience with used. However, I seem to recall reading machine blowers typically have a 15,000 hour design life. While there are a lot out there with significantly more hours, you could use that as a base. If they're asking half the new price, it better not have more than half of the 15,000 hours on it (and I'd really want it to have a lot less).

People who buy from Craigs List and other sources often report finding ones with only a few hundred to a couple thousand hours on them. People get them, and then decide after a short time they aren't going to stick with it. So consider what your DME has in light of that.

I'd probably not want more than a few hundred to a couple thousand hours, if possible. It would depend a lot on the price savings. But, how desperate I am would make a difference. Right now, beggers can't be choosers, and if I felt I really need one now I might accept one with a few more hours than I'd ideally like. But, then again, I'm very severe and can't sleep at all without a machine.

This is a comment I posted on Sunday the 27th. I just checked their website and they have a Resmed Airsense 10 elite IN STOCK for $799. They ship for free. I had mine in 3 or 4 days. It is what they said it was. They also showed 2 year warranty. Factory or not I don't know. I just wanted to wake up in the morning. The prices keep going up about every 3 days. I doubt they will go down any time soon. God Bless.

I'm not sure what the policy is on this forum as far as recommending non approved vendors, but I have had good service from A website online sales noted as "No Insurance Medical Supplies". My payment notation from them comes back as "International Medical Equipment LLC". They do have most ResMed machines in stock as of what I looked up today. I purchased an $800 Oxygen Concentrator from them in 2019. I also bought a new ResMed Airsense 10 from them last week. They sent what they advertised and shipped very quick. I can only tell you from my experience. Their prices vary as compared to some others. I got a a very good price on what I have purchased. They also stock other brands. They are based in New York.

I apologize. It is kind of an inside joke. I guess not everybody has heard it. The internet, emails and forums it is so easily misunderstood. I'm sorry. I worked my whole life in the automotive industry, and the joke goes, "A guy goes into Joes Auto parts to buy a water pump for his car, the parts man tells him the pump costs $39, but he is out of them. The guy goes to Jim's Auto Parts and Jim tells him the water pump he needs is $49. The guy says "Joes Auto Parts only gets $39. Jim says, "Why don't you buy it from Joe?". The guy says "Joes Auto Parts is out of them". Jim tells the guy, "When we are out of water pumps we only get $29 for them"....... - I thought you would laugh. I didn't mean to insult you in any way. Sorry.
