Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
Having lived on a ranch, I was there for weaning.
The calves are already eating grass, and they bellyache for a while--then commence to grazing.
The mothers hang around while their bags are full, but once the milk stops,
they can all be put back together.
Its a relief for the cow to not have a half-grown baby bothering her for teat sweets.
Weaning helps prevent injury to the calf due to being gored by the mother trying to wean without help.

Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
This unfortunate and prolonged outage shows the reason everyone on cpap should have a DC power cord to fit their cpap AND a battery or two or three with a way to charge it. I have use my car engine to charge my batteries before.

Re: Rolling blackouts and CPAP use
Unfortunately, the OP will not be able to use a battery power station or even continue to use CPAP.
Her CPAP machine is comprised of plastics, and while plastics are primarily petroleum based almost all plastics use additives of animal origins to improve their properties and used in the processing.
Any rubber within her device, hose and mask will likely have a percentage of animal-based stearic acid. The standard for glues and adhesives is made from animal tissues and bone.
The LCD screen on her device will contain cholesterol taken from animals, not to mention all the animal by-products used in the manufacturing and distribution of her CPAP and all of the products she uses everyday.
So perhaps she should get off her sanctimonious, judgy, soap-box and recognize that while she is condemning everybody else for animals in their diets, she too benefits and uses animal by-products herself.

Perhaps there are other readers who can benefit.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 11:29 amPick up a powerbox and a 12v DC power cable for your CPAP.
Keep the powerbox plugged into the wall outlet and the CPAP plugged into the powerbox. Then when your power is cutoff, no problem.
- if you're a do-it-yourselfer, you can put together your own system with 12v scooter batteries a lot easier.
- you *might* get away with using the AC plug from your CPAP and the inverter on the powerbox, but they are terribly inefficient
- don't consider a UPS:
- expensive
- don't do 12v
- poor capacity
- most beep when not on AC
- be careful of the inexpensive lithium powerboxes, most have very poor capacity
- be aware CPAP humidifiers and heated hoses are huge power draws
- one of the capacity specs for batteries are Amp Hours (AH). This measure amp hours of usage at 12 volt. The rule of thumb I use for my AirSense 10 is one amp per hour, when on DC Cable, no humidifier, no heated hose. (Very rough estimate, YMMV)
- many powerboxes public specs of mAH, (milli-Amp Hours). You CAN'T divide mAH by 1000 to convert to AH. mAH is typically rated for the USB-3.6 v and marketing.

Most of the products in the garden, orchard, and field are pollinated by . . .
INSECTS
As a matter of fact entire bee colonies are trucked around to pollinate ALMONDS.
This hunger for nuts has contributed to colony collapse--which may render bees extinct.

Nah, not grim, there are vegan versions of most food these days that come without the cruelty of factory farming. Marshmallows, gum drops, and jelly beans are not that high on my must-haves, but YMMV. The longer I'm away from a meat/dairy-based diet, the more healthier I find myself eating and enjoying it. Taste buds do change for the better.

Brain function requiring animal fat makes sense.
