Re: Air blowing in my eyes, raisin eyes are painful
Normally I would be at work right now, but fate intervened delaying my day by 3 hours because of an administrative error. Good news is I have time for my Ointment Update for my fellow raisin eyed sufferers.
First, my PSA: if you are going to stick ointment in your eye, wash your hands well with warm water and soap while singing your ABCs, and use sterile ointment. You only get one pair of eyes, and ointment can help bacteria stick around longer in your eye. An eye infection is uncomfortable at the least.
My review: it was okay. I'll keep trying the ointment for a while longer before getting a different mask, but I suspect I will be getting a new mask.
The pros: slight, temporary feeling of dry eye relief. A feeling of confidence that my eyes were somewhat protected (I'm a worrier). My eyelids and under my eyes feels very moisturized this morning.
The cons: a bit greasy, I had to reapply in the middle of the night, I have a feeling my silk pillowcase is not going to hold up well to ointment.

Yeah, I think I'll stick with the ointment instead of trying cheapskate experiments.Truffles wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 7:24 am

Sorry you don't like the ointment very much so far. Since you had to reapply, you might want to put a bit more ointment in before bed tonight. The pillowcase issue is a pain. I fold a cotton hanky in quarters and place it on top of the pillowcase right under my eye if I'm laying on my side. It helps.

I am going to try a bigger blob of ointment tonight, thanks for the suggestion. I don’t have any regrets about these ointment experiments. It all seems like a good use of my time because I don’t know what I don’t know. And it gives me entertainment while I continue to drag my feet on a mask decision.
My burning question continues to be P10 or Bleep. I’ll be swabbing by eyes with ointment until I decide.

you prolly shouldn't use the word "burning" and "ointment" that close together.
just sayin'.

Zonkers,
Ointment is one of those words like “moist” that I have a love/hate relationship with. I sense the same is true for you. Maybe we should bring back the old word “liniment” so we can stop the giggling in the back of the classroom.

Speaking of "liniment", my dad had a bottle of Absorbine Senior for the horses.
He used Junior on his own aches and pains.

Re: Air blowing in my eyes, raisin eyes are painful
well, you know, i was going to argue by using the 'it depends on what your definition of "is" is" argument. but this is what the all knowing google machine sez-
"lin·i·ment
/ˈlinəmənt/
Learn to pronounce
noun
a liquid or lotion, especially one made with oil, for rubbing on the body to relieve pain."
"oint·ment
/ˈointmənt/
Learn to pronounce
noun
a smooth oily preparation that is rubbed on the skin for medicinal purposes or as a cosmetic."
ointment goes on to say that liniment is similar!
how about we bail on both and use embrocation?
eta: suddenly, i feel very steampunk-ish.
