First night with Bleep mask
First night with Bleep mask
Very promising. I certainly had no issues sleeping with it ... until around 4:30 (which OSCAR seems to think is 3:30). At that time I woke up because one nostril started leaking. I was unable to address that, and swapped for the Tap Pap I had handy. The leak story is very telling.
So that's one night. I'm not discouraged, because I know people have to adjust to a new mask, and I know there's often issues with the Bleep at first. I have oblong nostrils on the large side, and I tend to flare them quite unconsciously. Last night I put the dream ports closer to the tip of my nose and added cutoff parts under. Tonight I am going to try the opposite, because the leak developed at the outer edge.
BTW almost the entire first hour after switching masks is all awake time ... was not easy to fall back asleep.
Someone will suggest I might be mouth breathing (or opening). I am pretty sure that's not the case. I've done it in the past and (a) it wakes me up, plus (b) my mouth then gets VERY dry, which isn't happening.
I also need to find a way to add a diffuser .. the vent can be troublesome.
Just sharing my experience. I don't have any issues with the data aside from the crazy leakage when I use the Tap Pap.
Bizarrely (to me), the Tap Pap leaks don't awaken me, but the Bleep did ... it was a bit tickle-y.

Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.
Re: First night with Bleep mask
Have you not seen PR's diffuser fix with a ResMed filter?

Re: First night with Bleep mask
I think you mentioned that to me earlier (in a PM), but no, I haven't. I have LOTS of spare filters for my old machine (PR system 1 series 60) ... will probably attempt to make something later today.
I have found many references to it, but not the actual post.

Re: First night with Bleep mask
I am not so sure the Respironics filter is the best choice. It's not big enough for one thing and with the hard plastic thing on one side it might not diffuse the venting well.
See the image PR posted in this thread for what he did.

I may have a better picture but need to go find it.

I mean these: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/m-seri ... am-filters ... no plastic, no frame for that matter, but thicker than what I see there. I also have the disposable ones: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-sys ... ter-6-pack
I don't have a lot of supplies for the resmed yet.

Re: First night with Bleep mask
I tried using a Repsironics filter as a diffuser....it's not quite large enough to do a good job of diffusing....at least for my needs.
It allowed the air to sneak around the edges too much.
YMMV...give it a try.
Damn internet...I can't get your link to load.
You can also simply use a piece of gauze...that's what I used until PR came up with the filter idea.

Re: First night with Bleep mask
I've been using the bleep for six months or so. I find at this point the only way I get any leaks at all are via the mouth.
And yeah, I did the filter hack, and swapped hoses.

Re: First night with Bleep mask
Make the link http instead of https and see if that works for you (on phone right now or would edit them). Or go to cpap.com and search for filters for series one systems.
Thanks, will try either way.

Re: First night with Bleep mask
It was a system one filter that I tried. It's simply smaller in overall size. My disposable filters are name brand and there is a very thin plastic like backing to them and thus not so much diffusing but more of a blocking thing. They worked I guess but between the size thing and the potential for blocking the air too much with that backing...I wasn't happy or comfortable with my results.

Re: First night with Bleep mask
Like Slowriter, pretty much the only time I have leaks with the Bleep is when my mouth opens up. I do agree, though, when that happens my mouth gets as dry as the Sahara. I do occasionally get some "tunneling" (only way I can think of to describe it) from the port to the edge of the adhesive. This usually happens about 3 or 4 am. Tickley is right! Wakes me right up, but adding a bit of cut off adhesive takes care of it. Oddly enough, it never shows up as a leak!
Good luck!
Good luck!

Re: First night with Bleep mask
That makes a really tiny leak, but at high velocity which is why it tickles. My leaks were with the tap pap, and that's why I went to the bleep. I had no noticeable leak with the bleep. That was really nice.booksfan wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 4:25 pmLike Slowriter, pretty much the only time I have leaks with the Bleep is when my mouth opens up. I will keep some spare adhesive around tonight just in case.
Thanks!

Re: First night with Bleep mask
I am late on my day 2 update. It was very similar to day 1, except I did not develop a leak at 4:30. Instead I somehow ended up with a tiny amount of water on one nostril. At 4:3].
I also burned a set of dreamports because they got pulled off when I accidentally knocked my house management system way off. At least I still have my nose!

YIKES! That must have been one heck of an accidental knock!khauser wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 5:11 pmI am late on my day 2 update. It was very similar to day 1, except I did not develop a leak at 4:30. Instead I somehow ended up with a tiny amount of water on one nostril. At 4:3].

I have pretty bad allergies and I occasionally get a bit of "moisture" on one nostril. I've never been able to figure out if it is water or a runny nose. It does make me wish I could blow my nose, though!
Hope it goes better tonight!

Re: First night with Bleep mask
Unfortunately this hasn't been going well at all. I really want a combination of the Bleep and the Tap Pap ... the lack of stability on the bleep means my nose is always getting tugged, and when I manage to fall asleep this leads to a micro-leak that is super-annoying. The leak is always near the part where the nose joins the space above the upper lip. The only way I can get more tape there would be to shave ... I'm not quite ready for that.
I still have time to try and solve this (attach it somehow to the tap pap??) and I'm going to work at it some more. I have the host management system recommended by Stuart, but the host on my ResMed (the climateline) is very stiff and doesn't behave nicely, so any form of turning is an instant wake-up.
Any last minute suggestions out there that I haven't tried?

Re: First night with Bleep mask
Add a different hose that is longer and more flexible.
The P10 will work with some surgery. It's a pricey experiment though since it is part of the frame.
I think that there is a hose from ResMed that wouldn't require surgery but I forget which one...let me go see if I can figure out which one it was. One that isn't part of the frame and isn't so pricey.
