For years I got wicked itches right in the middle of my back. Got wise and hung a back scratcher on the bedpost. It hasn't happened since.

Re: First night with Bleep mask
Right?! I must need to blow my nose more times between washing my face/cleaning my nose and sticking the ports than I do all day! And I read for a bit after sticking them on before attaching the interface, during which time my nose itches like crazy!Pugsy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 12:37 pmIsn't it interesting. My nose never itches either inside or outside UNTIL I stick the ports on and then it sometimes itches on the inside.
No reason except that my brain wants to screw with me since it's not easy to scratch the inside of your nose with the port on...and it's always after the second port gets attached.

Re: First night with Bleep mask
I'm going to finish out this thread with this result: I've reached success with the Bleep DreamPort! It took some effort, and to that end I need to thank Pugsy, who has spent a ton of effort helping me through this, and gave one of the most useful suggestions (switching soap!!). Bleep CEO Stuart Heatherington has also been extremely helpful, and has continually reached out to me DAILY over the last several weeks. His suggestions for a skin prep (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002Z ... UTF8&psc=1) and tape (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009 ... UTF8&psc=1) were the final help I needed.
So, if like me you happen to have exceptionally oily skin, DON'T GIVE UP! There are people here and at the company that WILL HELP YOU.
I guarantee that no other company I've worked with for CPAP products has been anywhere NEAR as responsive as Stuart. He mans the support line using his cellular phone. HE IS the support! He's also extremely knowledgeable about xPAP usage, not just with his mask.
If you can't tell from the praise, I am beyond pleased with the results. It's been a long time since I've been able to sleep through the night. My Tap Pap is still a great mask, but at the pressures I need I almost always end up with excessive leaks that wake me up.
Final chart, just showing the lack of leaks:

Re: First night with Bleep mask
Good job. I was hoping with a bit of experimenting with different stuff and not giving up we could get there.
Oily skin is a downer but it can be done. A little more work but I think it's worth it myself if someone wants the freedom the Bleep offers.
As for Stuart....remember not only is he a sleep lab tech....he's a 20 plus year cpap user so he has been there and done every thing we have been through.

khauser,
That tape Stuart recommended; is it to help hold the dreamports in place?

It helps hold them on my nose. If you're having trouble with them coming out of the connector that would not be solved by tape.Deborah K. wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 5:38 pmkhauser,

The way I do it (YMMV) is:
- I trim about a half inch from the dreamport tape
- I adhere the dreamport to each nostril, firmly pressing them (you should watch Stuarts video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-pRVlAo6Ic&t=522s.
- I use the two cutoff parts to buttress the area between the nostrils, one from the top and one from the bottom. The narrow part goes towards the nostril.
- I use the tape to buttress the bottom (a strip across), and both edges near the crease.
This will sound like extreme overkill to many, but if you have very oily skin like I do, this is what works.
Once I get some consistent good results I intend to back off some of the tape as a test ... but I likely will not be successful, based on prior experience. That's OK, I don't mind the tape. The comfort is amazing, and my next most comfortable mask creates a huge leak problem for me...

Re: First night with Bleep mask
Thanks for your reply. I don't have a Bleep (yet) but hope to get one soon. My primary care doc sent a prescription for one to my DME, so I'm hopeful that they will get me one in early to mid July.
