yup. this is now my neck of the woods and was enough to scare the crap outa me. but i want to point out to those who don't follow links, this is an update on something that happened march 17. currently, skagit county has 411 confirmed cases, deaths 14 and 146 recovered. skagit is the county wherein i'll be living if they ever get my friggin' house done.

currently i'm living in whatcom county which is the county just north of skagit. in whatcom county, 341 confirmed cases, 35 deaths and 0 recovered.

so it's a real enough concern that we are taking precautions while not totally isolating. dog park every day(nowhere NEAR anyone else), groceries once per week and every few days, fast food takeout.

i really hope that a change in administration can get the ball rolling. but any such change can't happen until the end of jan 2021.

None of the quality opinions here matter, including the CDC and Dr. Fauci's, except maybe to us -- the above is the only chance we have.

i'm sorry, i have nothing to say about the article.

just wanted to say i read that as "fda HATES bill gates coronavirus testing program".

for those of you that read it, can you tell me why they hate bill gates?

Because when medical testing is done for medical reasons but in a way that can easily be misinterpreted by the tested and that can also be embarrassing to any authorities trying to bury the numbers, philanthropists are likely to be forced to dot all their I's and cross all their T's by regulators who want to feel in control and to slap a few wrists along the way. It shouldn't be a free-for-all (even when it is something that should be, uh, free for all), so there are benefits to some regulations. But tying hands and delaying help for what could be construed as political and economic reasons may not play out well in present optics or in historical perspective.
