Is there a mask with a decent enough check valve to release your exhale?

I solved the vent noise issue on the Bleep by just using the machine filter as a diffuser.
The noise wasn't horrible in my situation because my pressures are rather low and I don't let the vented air bounce off anything but there was some noise and easily diffused with the filter trick that is talked about in the thread Dog Slobber pointed to.

Stuart is working on some type of way of attaching diffuser material over the vent holes to eliminate this problem.

Well yeah....it's because of the tiny holes vs a big hole. Same air flow but feels different. Tiny holes concentrate the air flow more so feels more pronounced but in real life it's the same flow.

I'm going to throw my two cents into this from experience. I have the P30i that someone mentioned. I had to switch out for the Large nasal pillows because the Small and Medium, while they might "fit a little better"...the breathing holes in them are smaller and make me feel like I'm suffocating or not getting enough air flow to breathe in/out as fast as I would like. I do not have that problem with the P30i with the Large nasal pilows, however. They also fit outside of the nostrils like they're supposed to and simply rest, so Large is apparently my size. But the pillows do cause sores on the inside part of each nostril.

Note that with the P30i, there are vent holes on the FRONT near your mouth (and if you move that little diffuser, there are 16 small holes underneath for air to exit). I wouldn't recommend removing the diffuser. I tried that before with the P30i. You'll find that air exits so fast that it is super LOUD every time you breathe. Many times louder, that's why the diffuser is there. In addition, there are even MORE holes up on the top of the head where the swivel connector is. When the machine is on, air is also coming out of those holes, as well. You're getting ventilation on the front of the pillows and also on top of your head in case any CO2 manages to work its way up there. I love the P30i.

Hello, it's been a while since I've posted. A lot of stuff happened since. Anyway I have finally done a sleep study last night, but they didnt give me a cpap for any portion of the test. They said I have to come back and test again with cpap. I was under the impression that half the night, they would do the mask. I guess that's what I get for listening to a secretary that wants to feel important too and make decisions.
If I have a choice on which machine to get for myself after this is all over, which one is the smallest/best one to get currently? I also plan to use in my car before work sometimes when I take a nap. Thank you.

Actually there are some legitimate reasons for not being able to follow through with a split night study and put someone on cpap during the initial diagnostic sleep study.
Certain criteria needs to be met first and then once that criteria is met there needs to be enough time left during the night for an adequate titration study to be obtained. Different sleep labs can have different criteria.
I had a split night study myself ordered but I didn't meet the criteria until too late in the night to have enough time to do the titration with cpap part of the sleep study. Some people can meet criteria quickly....some don't.
