I use a full face mask when I have a gooey cold. My nose gets so sore that I can't stand anything touching around the nares when I'm sick,
That lanolin that we recommend for people getting used to nasal masks? it works great when you're sick and your nose starts getting sore, or put a bit on before... and it keeps it from happening :)
I have some old lanolin cream I guess I could try, but it's more than just sore. It is like someone poking me when the mask touches me there. a sensitivity that I don't think a cream would dispel. I'm fine with it 99% of the time, but it often takes a month or so before I want anything touching my nose after a cold.

Thanks all.

Have been fiddling with it this evening while watching tv, trying to get the straps to mask right. Then the duh moment when I realized I needed dentures out, because that is how I sleep. Taking a break for awhile before starting again and ending up throwing it across the room. My daughter gave me the young adult look and I simple laughed and said "even old people have tantrums. Deal with it.....I have dealt with all of yours." The look on her face was.......priceless

It does appear that you're speaking of a true oxygen machine in lieu of a PAP machine. If the diagnosis is garden variety sleep apnea, you do not need oxygen, just pressurized air. There is enough oxygen in ordinary air.

However, since you have other issues in play, oxygen might be appropriate. Considering the other issues in play it makes sense to control your sleep apnea, even if you would not ordinarily do so based on the severity level. Furthermore, I'm not convinced that any level of sleep apnea is safe to leave untreated.

If you are using both oxygen and PAP therapy, there is an interface to feed oxygen into the mask.

Lastly, you must stop with the smoking and the vaping! It is very dangerous, especially given your other issues!

I use supplemental oxygen. During the sleep titration study, the CPAP didn't correct this completely during sleep, but instead of needing 3.5 to 4 liters of oxygen a night, it has been lowered to 1 to 1.5 liters. I also need oxygen from time to time during the day. This is all due to the severity of the asthma which is now damaging my lungs and slightly enlarging my heart.

I actually quit smoking July 2018 and am very proud of this. I smoked for almost 40 years. Outside of scarring from several bad bouts of pneumonia, so far no damage from the smoking. No true COPD, though the severity of the asthma, does put me in that category but not from smoking, thank God.

My night last night was not the best. Insomnia struck hard. God about two hours of actual sleep. Kept the mask on the whole time for about 6.5 hours total wear time and no apneas per MyAir report - and no leaks. I hate the full mask and will be getting just a nasal likely next week. Not feeling very well. Not sure what I will get but am a 100% side sleeper.

Thanks for all the help and encouragement!! Good group.

Should I keep asking questions on this thread or make a new one about the SD cards, Oscar, Masks, etc?? Just to mention, I have downloaded Oscar but my laptop doesn't appear to have a SD port so waiting for husband to come home from work to see if he has and adapter. Slept good last night (on Ambien - can't if I don't with all that mask everywhere) and would like to deep what the data shows.

Stick to one thread... but go back to the first post and change the subject line to what you're currently working on. that will change the message subjects on subsequent posts.

The canonical example for this technique is this thread:
viewtopic/t104717/OTDefective-frogBreas ... CURED.html
As you read through it, you see how Chunky went back to the first post and kept updating the subjects as events progressed.

as pr points out, please stay here for now. not a hard and fast rule, but it helps the experts keep tabs on your progress when they can see what has gone on before in your "timeline", so to speak.

if your husband doesn't have an adapter to hand, you can readily get one on amazon.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.

In my defense, I just learned how to do that--and went bananas.

Change the Subject Line. Got it
Do I leave the first post alone, meaning you all will know to look at the last post or do I change the first post? Different forums have different rules on that one.

Side note, just found out my SD card is missing so my first few nights are missing and this ticks me off. It should have it in there! My paper work shows it was given to me. I best not have to buy one!

Just change the subject line on the first post. that will cause new posts to have the new subject line.

It is "possible" to edit any post of yours, but you want to maintain continuity--so usually better not to.
It is also weird to delete anything that has been quoted
You can also add a line at the end, preceded by "EDIT:" to add a little new info, as a preview.

This thread is 8 pages long...and counting.
I would prefer a brand new thread with a link back to this once once the actual therapy is being evaluated.
Most people don't want to wade through all 120 posts about what happened in the past. I know I wouldn't.
I would like easy access to it (with a link in the first post of a new thread) so I could go there if I wanted to.

It's very unlikely that very much of the stuff in this thread (especially with the derailing that went on) is going to be very important when evaluating the actual therapy results.

Just my two cents on things.
