My doctor prescribed a bipap dream station ...
Is that an auto bipap, or just bipap.

If you are unsure as to exact model you can look on the bottom of the blower for a little sticker with the model number on it.
It will start with DSX then 3 digits and then maybe some letters.
The 3 digits after DSX will tell us which model you have.
It will be either DSX600xxx or DSX700xxx.
The regular BiPap is the 600 and the auto bipap is the 700.

It is a very good thing. :D

When you have time please add your equipment to your profile.
Your machine choice is
DreamStation BiPap Auto
Your humidifier choice is
DreamStation Heated Humidifier

and of course whichever mask you ended up with.

Just did 8 hours!! i woke up several times because of leakage, I tightened the mask which helped with leakage but made the mask very uncomfortable. Also, my upper teeth hurt.

Yes.

I asked because it seemed like you were set at fixed pressures, and I was wondering why that would be if you had an auto machine.

You did great.

As you get accustomed to things, you should be able to find a happy medium between tightness and reducing leaks.

Did you get different sized Nasal Cushions? When I tried out the N30i, I thought the MW was my size, but actually laying down with it leaked. Went to the M and much better.

He lives in my neck of the woods and all the sleep doctors around here seem to be big advocates of fixed pressures..

They also tend to get their panties all in a wad when we go screwing with stuff unless we can prove we know more than they do. Another eye roll.

Anyway, I notice his settings but didn't want to rock that boat just yet. Figured we would/could at least give those settings a try and once he was successfully using the machine then we would take a peek at the results and see if we need to dig deeper.
He's using some rather high settings as it is and it may not need to go higher and he did have an in lab titration so they hopefully at least got things close.

You guys are awesome with your quick replies and feedback. Thank you for the support, it feels great knowing I got a bunch of people here to help who know what's going on ( before I do)

I was a bit overwhelmed with the high pressure at first but honestly after sitting with it on for a while it didn't bother me much

I am worried about my teeth. When I woke up with them hurting I was afraid to look at them for fear they would be black it turning black. Lol

Will me teeth be ok? Will they eventually move?

Oh...Dog slobber....I have a medium and she gave me extra mediums. I tried a SW but it leaked. I think I will next try the one that goes into the nostril slightly....

I did wake up at 6:30 and mopped my floors, which is VERY unusual for me. Don't know if it's psychological or the machine πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Thanks all!!

You're not nesting, are you? :)

CPAP's not responsible for that.

Which teeth are sore? The ones under the strap? Usually means the strap is a bit too snug.

Yes I guess that makes sense. It's my two front teeth. I Will loosen the straps tonight and try sleeping on my back, should help with leakage.

Thank you

Try fitting your mask again--the fixed pressure will make this a bit easier:

1. Loosen the straps.
2. Lay down in your preferred position (does not have to be your back--apneas increase on your back so if you prefer your side, lie on your preferred side).
3. Put on the mask and turn on the machine.
4. Use one hand to hold the mask gently against your face as you adjust the straps JUST so it doesn't leak. If you sleep primarily on one side, you may find that you have the strap on the "up" side of your head ever so slightly tighter, and the pillow side ever so slightly looser to accommodate the way the pillow pushes the mask.
5. Make sure the back strap is on the right place on the back of your head. The pressure should be pushing up against your nose, not back against your front teeth.

This kind of mask can be a bit tighter than the usual air cushion masks, but not so tight that it's mashing your nose. You don't want to look like Miss Piggy!
