I still think that getting on CPAP is the right direction, although as others have pointed out, that's a very heavy consumption level. With absolutely no judgment in this statement, I think you will feel somewhat better with CPAP, but it will be limited as long as you're drinking heavily nightly.Bubba1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 2:46 pmI drink between 4 and 12 beers per night. 12 oz per beer.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 11:27 amWhy do you ask for comments if you will continue drinking regardless?
How much beer do you drink in the evenings? How close to bedtime? If you limit it to one or two pints and finish about three hours before bedtime, it shouldn't be much of a problem.
Subjectively rate your sleep and your energy level the next day. You may want to keep a journal.
I found that the benefits of CPAP put me in a much better headspace to tackle alcohol consumption. Addiction is complicated. Without CPAP, I don't think I would have ever become ready to address my alcohol use. Prior, every time I'd taken a break from alcohol, I felt so terrible from apnea that I'd return to weekend binges. If I was going to feel hungover anyway, I was at least going to drink. Getting my OSA under control gave me a taste of feeling human again, and getting my drinking under control was the next logical step.
Best of luck to you.
Re: Beer and sleep apnea
You could save a lot of time and just down a cup of everclear. probably end up being considerably cheaper than two sixpacks, and just as effective.
(144oz*5.5%=7.92 oz of pure alcohol, everclear's around 95%, so you'd really need 8.33 oz to get the same amount of alcohol)

We all come here exhausted and cranky, many of us have other health issues and have all the aches and pains to go with it. Humor helps.

Sounds like a great idea. Will probably drink 12 or so beers tonight since it's the weekend.
Re: Beer and sleep apnea
Have you tried drinking? I guarantee it will help with your other health issues and aches and pains.. after about 5 beers almost all pain will be forgottenbabydinosnoreless wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 2:08 pmWe all come here exhausted and cranky, many of us have other health issues and have all the aches and pains to go with it. I'd rather do something that doesn't bring back all the aches and pains, PLUS NEW ONES the next morning.Bubba1 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 2:52 pmHave you tried drinking? Meh. I'm not a fan of the taste. If I'm going to drink empty calories I much prefer Dr Pepper to beer. Nothing helps with the aches and pains. Re: Beer and sleep apnea
After you start CPAP, why don't you try nights both with and without beer and see how that impacts you and your AHI. Personally, I found nights when I drank, my AHI tended to be higher, so now I try to avoid alcohol for the most part. Your experience may be different.

Several bottles of various hard stuff sit neglected on the back of my sink.
The only thing that gets used up is Kahlua--that and heavy cream makes coffee a dessert.
Sam's club used to sell a sugar-free Kahlua syrup that I used at work.
I would use it now if I could find any.
Maybe I'd drink coffee more often.
