For the science, I encourage Bubba1 to drink as much beer as he wants and to take screenshots of his stats to share with us. Personally, I avoid all alcohol and food during the last three hours before going to bed.

That's what I have practiced for decades. However, I note that some people with diabetes and/or insulin resistance do better eating a snack near bedtime.

I don't have either, last they checked, but sometimes a small bowl of cereal helps me get to sleep... My dietician approves, milk, tryptophan, a little carbs... ZZZzzz...

Last night four beers. All events SWJ except UA.

Drinking beer will cause arousals.

I repeat.

CPAP will not change this equation.

Help!!! What am I doing wrong. If I drink any alcohol after dinner I am usually up 4-5 times a night ( and not to pee ). I think I rather deal with the aches and pains at night opposed to a hangover in the morning. Plus I take all my cardiac and asthma meds at night, so the combination is not good if I swig them down with booze.

Presumably, the first thing you did wrong was develop cardiac and asthma problems.

After you start CPAP, why don't you try nights both with and without beer and see how that impacts you and your AHI. Personally, I found nights when I drank, my AHI tended to be higher, so now I try to avoid alcohol for the most part. Your experience may be different.
I have found the same thing. I am not much of a drinker, wine occasionally when dining with friends. I don't feel like I sleep different, but the numbers say otherwise. So now I tend to drink even less.

I like to drink beer in the evening. I know it leads to increased urination at night and alcohol impacts sleep. My experience is alcohol makes it easy to fall asleep but hard to stay asleep.
Going to get my first CPAP machine soon and don't plan on stopping beer... Thoughts???
my thought is you won't succeed with cpap.
I am happy to report tonight will be my fifth night and I am on the road to success
