Airsense 10 cleaning question

Hi noob cpap user here. I have an airsense 10 auto set with heated hose and f30 full face mask. I absolutely love the machine but noticed a small issue that only occurs on the night I clean my equipment per week. I hang the hose up to dry and when I go to use the cpap on the first night of cleaning it seems like it’s just a tid bit louder than normal. Is this because maybe there is a little water in the hose still and the machine is pushing the air harder or something? It’s always gone by when I use the bathroom in the middle of the night and then is perfectly fine until I go to clean again.

Probably a weird question but I have OCD and no one knows cpap better than this forum

Moisture can easily affect sound.
It is an interesting thing to note, but quite harmless.
Unless it bothers you.
If that is the case, don't wash the hose. (If possible--OCD not withstanding)
I don't and I keep a hose at least a year before replacing.
If you "really" need to clean the hose, buy a spare
so each one will have plenty of time to dry.

I figured it was just the extra moisture because after I wake up in the night to use the bathroom it’s back to sounding like normal. Super excited I’m on a cpap as It’s changing my life in so many ways. At first it was daunting and scary but now it’s my best friend

If you want to clean your Hose once a week and you wanted to be dry by evening so you can use it. You could purchase the Hurricane Dryer. I absolutely love this dryer. It dries all of your CPAP supplies in less than an hour including the hose. Just search online CPAP Hurricane Dryer. It works great.

Is there any danger or damage that can be done if I run the hose with a tiny bit of water still in it? I wash the cpap hose in the morning and usually wait about 12 hours before use. I’ll check out that device as well

Nope.

Having said that, the cleaning schedules for published are over-cautious, and frequent washings is probably the one of the major causes of supplies to wear out.

My cleaning schedule is:

• Wipe mask every day with a baby wipe. (unless I forget)
• Wash humidifier tank and mask in hot water and Dawn every 2-3 weeks. (unless I forget)
• Never wash hose.
• Replace Filter every 6 months. (unless I forget)

So the only disadvantage of running it hours after cleaning a hose would be sound? I can get an extra hose for $30 but if it’s just a little bit of noise for part of a night I can deal with that. I figured it’s fine to run a hose with a tiny bit of moisture left because with a humidifier the hose has moisture running through it anyways.

If you have read your owners manual, you will note that when you turn off a ResMed machine, the blower continues to run at a low speed for about 20 minutes to dry the hose.

I clean my hose weekly.
(Needed or not... I'm somewhat prone to URI, so it's just prudent for me.)

After cleaning, I hang it over the shower rod for a couple of hours, and then, hook it up to the CPAP unit, and run mask fit with just the hose connected for a couple of cycles.
It will turn itself off after a few minutes. Just start it again. It may help to jiggle the hose a bit when you first start the cycle, and make sure that the end of the hose is low. I just let the few drops run onto my carpet... it dries quickly anyway. If you have a hard surface floor, put down a towel at the end of the hose.

Doing this for a few cycles gets most of the water dried out. Any small residual drops won't be a problem.

While you don't even really need to do this, I sometimes get some water entering the mask if I don't do this.
Not harmful per se, but it's annoying.

Why don't you just swirl it around in the toilet and call it "good"........cause that's about what you're doing.

If you feel you MUST clean your hoses.........do so at night before bedtime and then the residual moisture will be added to your humidifier moisture and drying is unnecessary. You're immediately going to add moisture back into the hose when you start your machine anyway.

It always amazes me how much time people waste "cleaning" their equipment.

Yes...Wash it often to get rid of germs and then hang it in the most germ filled room of the home to dry.

I hang my hose in the living room and just ordered a second hose today. For those that do clean your hoses how often do you suggest? Reading the manual is one thing but since this device is so popular I figured I’d ask the experts here thanks again for all your help.
