I do mine on the 31st of February, April, June, September and November, I never miss one.

Since the first month, (when I didn't know better)I have only washed a hose once.
It had a smudge inside--turned out to be a permanent stain.
I replaced it. It was probably OK, but it was right where I could SEE it. Eeeeew!
(And it was right after some smarta$$ posted a picture of an earwig inside a hose.)
