Jas-williams, I see that your pressure is adjusted from 6 to 21. What is your average pressure? because even with the kind of diffuser on your photo, with an average pressure of 15 ... it makes a noise of hell.
I have tested the Bleep with my bilevel machine using 25 IPAP and 18 EPAP and it is totally silent unless the vented air is bouncing off something.
The diffuser will work to aid in not having it bounce off something.
If you are hearing noise and it's not bouncing off something then you have a leak somewhere.
Any tips on how best to identify and fix these leaks?
I got my mask yesterday, and while mask fit said I had no leaks, was indeed loud, so I figure I'm missing something.
For example, where are all the places it CAN leak? At basically every interface, so maybe there are four or five places to check?
I added the DIY diffuser, so wondering if maybe there's an issue there.
You have good answers from Pugsy and Djams, I would add that some people reported noise coming from the joint between the vent and the vent swivel. To solve this problem, I put teflon tape. Pugsy, I'm happy for you if it's very quiet with a pressure of 25. But there are so many people making a homemade diffuser (Incuding you, me, and even Stuart) that the noise is certainly one of the negative points of this mask. To be clear, this mask is the only one on the market that I tried without any leaks. I love it, it has huge potential, but there is room for improvement and if these improvements are not made in the future, we risk losing a mask that we love.
Slowriter, a very easy way to see if there are leaks, you block the ventilation holes with your fingers. If there is no leak, you will hear absolutely no noise. If you hear the slightest sound, there is a leak. It takes a while to get used to the installation, but everyone gets there. One thing this mask does not support is moisture. I can no longer use sinus rinse before bedtime because the moisture that remains in the nose eventually take off the mask. I have noticed that the noise is less annoying for side sleeper... but for back sleeper like me, the noise is more invasive. The only thing I miss from my dreamwear is the hose on the top of the head.
Good luck
