I have to turn the lights on, to make the screen bright enough to SEE.
Whose brilliant idea was that?

Whats to see with "Tanks" all you have to do is press one button, or you can take your chances with auto start, if your mask doesn't stop it from working. Off is only a one button press, or auto shut off may also work. I use the buttons, I need the exercise. I set my machine in the daytime, every ten years, just for kicks.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 10:43 pmI have to turn the lights on, to make the screen bright enough to SEE.

Use data to optimize your xPAP treatment!

No doubt, the ultra-dim screen is another attempt by the manufacturers
to prevent patients from seeing their DATA.
Screw them! I see what I want--and write down what I want.
The leak rate tells me when my headgear needs re-shrinking.

Re: What would you like to see in the next generation of CPAP devices?
Assuming his hasn’t been already posted as a feature request:
I’d like to see:
1. Some form of integration capabilities with Apple Health (or similar type apps)
2. Have 2 high current USB ports on it so I can charge my phone and watch with it.
3. A larger and higher resolution LCD display.
4. Have a night light feature with fully configurable brightness and color.
5. Built in alarm clock.
As others have already stated:
1. Keep the SD card so that we can continue using OSCAR/Sleepyhead.
2. Support Bluetooth/wi-if data transfer capability.
3. Make them widely available at big box stores
4. Make all machines APAP and get rid of the useless dumb brick.

Re: What would you like to see in the next generation of CPAP devices?
I’m using Strava Connect myself. Some of their watches (I have Garmin Forerunner 245) even have Pulse Ox sensor (although it doesn’t seem to be that precise). Mixing CPAP and watch data in one integrated service could be useful, although this probably lies a few years ahead in time. The sensors needs to become better. I don’t rely on/use the current Pulse Ox – not sure if it’s my watch in particular, but the value can go from 97% to 83% in ten seconds (while awake).

I'm a bit of data nerd so having easy on the wrist or phone access to my detailed sleep data would be neat to see. Certainly not necessary but neat.alexander wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 9:31 amI’m using Strava Connect myself. Re: What would you like to see in the next generation of CPAP devices?
I’m know that I’ve already have more than what I need, but I still like dreaming about these kind of things. We’re already able to respond to emails, delete or archive them using a watch – we’re sort of living in the future right now, and it’s only going to get crazier – in a good way, I hope.CPAPSteve wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 11:16 amI'm a bit of data nerd so having easy on the wrist or phone access to my detailed sleep data would be neat to see. Re: What would you like to see in the next generation of CPAP devices?
I'd like to see a bilevel travel machine.
Having the machines able to handle both land current and airplane current would be useful (I believe someone mentioned this above!)
Battery back-up with solar for those who want to go off the grid would be useful.
Like to see the cpap makers quit fighting us over software to read our data. When I started 10 years ago, Respironics made a scaled down version of the pro software for patients, but it was discontinued and does not work on Win 7 or above.
Just a plain on-off switch, please. I've lost track of how many times I've hit the multi-purpose switch, and had to get out of bed, stand over the machine with a flashlight and set it back to therapy.

Re: What would you like to see in the next generation of CPAP devices?
...not just you, jnk ... ~~~#*ME*TOO!!!
I would love not to pack my cpap and be able to have one (that I like and feels new) at each location I sleep AND I would like to be able to grab one if *I* CHOOSE to sleep somewhere else.
To be able to sleep SAFELY ... why is that too difficult? I want Amazon Prime or uber or someone to be able to hit me up maybe that same day? Or within 24 hours at max.
$100 seems high but I'll take it as a step in the right direction.

...ohhhh and that beauty mask, please, that I mentioned on Mother's wishlist thread.
~~~I want it custom made not just "custom fitted"
Began XPAP May 2016. Autoset Pressure min. 8 / max 15. Ramp off. ERP set at 2. No humidity. Sleepyhead software installed and being looked at daily, though only beginning to understand the data.
Re: What would you like to see in the next generation of CPAP devices?
I was actually just talking about this the other night with my partner.
- An option/programmable alarm that will let you know by a certain time if you are not active on sleep therapy. Since the machine knows whether you are using it or not, it would only "alarm" if you weren't using it. I regularly fall asleep in bed while watching tv (thinking I am wide awake) only to wake up a couple of hours later to put on my mask
- Apple Health (and others) integration
- Larger water tank
- Wifi/Bluetooth sync of data to local computer (no SD card shuffling)
- Have more affordable models available that handle all the clinical needs for those who need them - I just got my bill from the DME and EOB from my insurance company, it is absolutely ridiculous what the DME is billing insurance and what insurance is in turn paying
- An optional O2 sensor, so the data collected by the machine is complete (perhaps that just connects via USB to the device and writes all the data
- Leverage on machine ML/AI to improve the way it handles your treatment and it gets smarter over time - configurable of course
- Oscar Feature Request - iPhone/iPad app to present data
- Google Drive support for Oscar data (need to check if this works with Dropbox) - but some sort of shared file system
Re: What would you like to see in the next generation of CPAP devices?
you know, there is a thread at the top of all these threads which is specific for oscar suggestions. you might want to copy this up there, as i don't think bonjour and all the people who are working on oscar always peruse the rest of the comments.
for what it's worth....
Re: What would you like to see in the next generation of CPAP devices?
Set the timer on your smartphone. The machine menu should be left simple and not cluttered up with features most people won't use.gmsmith wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2019 6:11 pmAn option/programmable alarm that will let you know by a certain time if you are not active on sleep therapy. Re: What would you like to see in the next generation of CPAP devices?
You would need to install an app for that, and it would need to communicate (via bluetooth or other means) with the CPAP to tell if you're using it. That might be a little much to ask new CPAP users - who might already be overwhelmed - to do.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 6:14 amSet the timer on your smartphone. Re: What would you like to see in the next generation of CPAP devices?
Your opinion is valued, but you miss the point. If you set an alarm on the phone it is not aware of your cpap usage (whether you are wearing it or not) and the point is to make you aware of it if you aren’t using your mask. Why would I want to be woken up if I am in fact using my mask.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 6:14 amSet the timer on your smartphone. Re: What would you like to see in the next generation of CPAP devices?
BTW, here are some features that I don't find useful. I'm not saying that they should be eliminated, as I'm sure that they are indispensable to many others.
1) A Ramp. I want to start at full pressure. With the ramp on, it feels like I"m not getting enough air until it reaches nearly full pressure.
2) Exhalation relief. I find the changes in pressure very annoying, as if the machine were trying to tell me how to breathe. Also, I think that the noise would be annoying to any bed partner or roommate.
