I look at the world as it is today and think how it was back in the 70s and 80s.
What was considered rude but normal behavior : bigotry, sexism ect. Was a way of life in ne “locker room”. So to say.
Now, all those folks are being called out on their behaviors and they can’t hide from what they said or did 20 , 30 years ago. Longer even.
So, everything is saved on google . ip address has everything. Even your google/amazon thingy is recording you. As it must listen to everything to recognize when it’s being called. You really think that conversation simply disappeared. It’s there. Til someone wants to open it. Jeanie in a jar. Will it be opened?
One day everyone’s info will be released. All the tirades, jokes, .....everything.
What we say is simply “bad behavior” will one day haunt the folks who attack others online with a username. Thinking they are truly hidden from the real world. But the IP address is not. everything said is never going to be destroyed. A law will be passed and racist sexist people who attack others online will one on be put on the spot. Or hackers will do it.
Did you know, that all large companies pay third parties to compline data on their customers attitudes and rudeness.
Every time you speak with the bank, Verizon, gas, cable, satellite, target, Walmart ect...everyone., the operator gets to give you a score on your attitude. This score is kept and compiled by the third party companies. They then give you/us a score.
How long you wAit on the phone is considered and your score is used o help determine who speak with first. Rude, hostile people with low scores for their impatient rudeness will wait longer. Good attitudes get preferential treatment.
But, you, your neighbor, and everyone is scored every time you speak with customer service representatives at large companies.
And one day, what you post will be revealed. Might be 20 years. But it’s been close to 30 years since what was normal locker room talk is now considered, rightfully or not, is getting people fired. And worse.
So, Id think twice now. Don’t let the anonymous settings fool you.
No one is really anonymous in the internet driven world. The world today is so different than even 10 years ago. So in 20 years from now......we’ll i can’t even imagine.
Cheers
But This is my humble opinion on what will happen in 20 years for all of us.
Lesson learned:
Cheers
