I use my SoClean for sanitizing my hose only. I clean my mask and reservoir with soap and water. I undertake this process once a week. Seems to be enough.

This is the conversation with myself in my own head:

If soap and water is good enough for the forks and spoons in my kitchen that I actually put in my mouth, what kind of idiot would I need to be to believe the unscientific commercials making unsubstantiated claims that I need to use something as harmful to breathe as ozone on the PAP equipment that delivers filtered air to me in my own bedroom?

If I were a clean freak, I hope I'd be smart enough to follow the cleaning instructions in my equipment manuals instead of believing the lies in those fear-mongering FauxClean commercials.

I'll concede, although I have never wasted $300 on a No-Clean, or held one, it probably has 4 rubber feet or pads it sets on. If you sat the pads on germs and pushed down on the machine it might kill a few, in the least it might make them angry. Jim

I have read both articles. I do understand what the guy in the industry is saying. However I have a friend who is a chemical engineer and they both agree that ozone is good at cleaning.
Ozone is an oxidizer, and can help with cleaning (kills some germs really), but hydrogen peroxide is just as good, and doesn't require a multi-hundred dollar machine to be involved.

PLUS, if you have a medical question, it IS BEST to ask doctors (or biologists) rather than engineers or mechanics.

I resent that, I am a mechanic, self taught, 40 years and still learning. From Lawn mowers at age of 12 to Detroit Diesel V-16 Blown and Supercharged Haulage equipment , and Heavy Earth Moving Equipment in all flavors, and everything in between. Over the years, I learned how things work and found ways to make them better than the engineers that designed them did in the first place.

One thing to remember, Those Doctors, Biologists, Engineers all have one thing in common, they were taught from books and teachers that taught but not necessarily spent their lifetime working in the field. Not all of them graduated top of their class, many barely got by. Jim

YOU have CLEARLY never been to medical school. ALL the teachers there ARE trained Doctors or Scientists, and NOT mechanics.

When you post such nonsensical opinions, you're just exposing yourself to ridicule.

Never got much ridicule in Viet Nam 1966, when we were building a Field Hospital and supporting it's needs. When did you get back from Canada? Enjoy Spring Break! Jim

Their is a big difference between what is needed for large scale disinfection such as in a hospital and small scale such as a SoClean. I have discussed this with a friend who is a chemical engineer with an extensive background.
Actually, no, there isn't a difference.

It doesn't matter whether a device is in a hospital, or in your home, the concentrations of ozone to kill pathogens are the same.

Also, I don't see what chemical engineering has to do with biological systems such as bacteria and viruses.

Q: What do you call the person who graduated medical school at the BOTTOM of the class?
A: DOCTOR.
Most of us have no way to know if our doctor was an "A" student;
or just squeaked by. Or even CHEATED their way through.
Think about it--especially after the recent scandal.
Probably more bozos than we ever suspected.

Regular college and Medical School are two TOTALLY different things.
PASSING Medical School and becoming a Doctor is a quantum leap over just being accepted.

AND once you have graduated, there is more training (Residency).

I don't see how that invalidates chunky's point. She DID say 'medical school', not 'college'. Residency, boards, etc, still have ranges of passing.

" ranges of passing"---all of which can be circumvented, one way or the other.
It is becoming all too clear that merit counts for bupkis, if one can pull enough "strings".
Lots of luck to the patient. Best not to suffer from anything too hard to handle.

I have no idea what the passing percentage on medical boards is... but you can bet it's not 100%.

The federal license exam I took recently required 74% or better to pass... didn't matter at all that I got something in the 95% range.

And if your doc PAID somebody smart to take the exam for him--success guaranteed!
The thought could give one nightmares!
Especially since our community is the type that may not attract the most qualified.

Googled it, for 4 years, it's just over 85%. At 6 years, over 90%.
