Back on the board after long absence
Back on the board after long absence
Hi,
I've been on CPAP for over 15 years now and was on this board way back when then stopped dropping by as other things took over in my life. Wanted to start keeping up with the board again, see what's new out there in the CPAP world. I'm now on my third machine in that time, always ResMed since that's what Kaiser gives me.

Re: Back on the board after long absence
Well I thought I was doing well. But have had bumps. A few years ago I developed insomnia (my dad had a bad case of it). One night I went to bed and suddenly forgot how to fall asleep. It was the weirdest thing. Now it's something that comes and goes. I thought I was doing fine on the nights I did sleep, but I've gotten a new machine that has downloadable information and I'm finding that I've had nights with 3-4 events, but also a few with 6-8 events per hour. So maybe not doing as well as I thought I was.

Re: Back on the board after long absence
Welcome back.
Are you running a fixed pressure of 19?
Your machine is capable of automatically adjusting the pressure as needed within set ranges. Perhaps some adjustment could improve your sleep and your numbers.
Since you have the "for her" model there is also a second automatic setting that may or may not help you too.

Unfortunately, the sleep gal has control of my machine, not me. I'd probably have to do another sleep test to get them to alter anything. Hated those things.

The clinical manual is available online so you can adjust it yourself, assuming you are not in a 3 month compliance period for insurance. People here can help of you post SleepyHEad data following the instructions in Pugsy's newbie thread at the top of the page.
Pugsy's post here tells how to get the manual.

Re: Back on the board after long absence
Take the control away from that gal. Most of the regulars here manage their own therapy including machine settings. And, they get better results. There will be NO sleep professional who tells me what settings to use.
There are tools and personal help here for you.

Re: Back on the board after long absence
You can download the secret clinical manual from https://www.respshop.com/manuals/ResMed ... %20her.pdf and then you know how to get into the secret menu that allows you to have control.
There's no need to do a sleep test under normal circumstances, your machine saves lots of data... if you don't have a SD card in it now, put one in.

Still waiting for the secret CPAP police to bust in my door armed with a secret CPAP warrant. If that happens, I've got a real badge, a cynical attitude, and some other fun things for them.palerider wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:57 pmYou can download the secret clinical manual from https://www.respshop.com/manuals/ResMed ... %20her.pdf and then you know how to get into the secret menu that allows you to have control.

Be careful. They're a pretty rough-looking bunch (especially the one in the middle with the chainsaw):
