I'm not beating a dead horse...
If you can't see the clear differences in the situation, perhaps someone can explain it to you.

Have a nice day.

Why don’t we all logout of this site and spend the rest of the day helping the homeless, disabled vets, or sick children.

I don't believe this is about the "software".

And, let what go? New people believing lies and slamming the victim as a result?

Ah, no.
I think with that impressive post count you have going you think you know everything. Sort of like sex: "you either do it and don't talk about it, or you talk about it and don't do it. That's why I'm always suspicious of people who talk too much about everything." There is a lot of real knowledge here but I'm not sure where or if you fit.

You are obviously a VERY unhappy person and now you're making chit up on me with this victim crap.

Be less important, less aggressive and move on. Better yet please put me on your ignore list - that will teach me to have an honest opinion - outrageous!

I'm done so rant on if you like.

Peeking thru fingers....

Is it as good as Mel Gibson in Braveheart ?
Here's a little information about that movie.................

From:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112573/go ... =tt_trv_gf

Factual errors
"Wallace and many other Scottish characters ride horses while dressed in kilts. Even in times and places where the kilt was actually worn (it wasn't worn anywhere in Scotland in Wallace's time, and at no time in history was it worn in Wallace's part of Scotland), men who expected to ride anywhere wore trews, not kilts, for the very good reason that it would have been an extremely painful and impractical experience; no underwear was ever worn under the kilt. Kilts were not invented until the 16th century, more than 200 years after the events in this film."

There seems to be lots of factual errors with that movie.

Den

.
While I generally enjoy history, I am pretty sure I wasn't watching it for the history lesson. In fact I don't think I've ever managed to watch thw whole movie without falling asleep. ;)

You're wrong about this. Current societal norms have created a situation where "straight-talkers" are viewed negatively. People are too damn sensitive and get their feelings hurt way too easy these days. I personally appreciate straight talk. I don't have to guess what the person I'm communicating with is trying to say. You should do yourself a favor and do some reading here before you start blabbing ignorantly. Palerider spends massive amounts of his personal time sharing his technical expertise and knowledge on this (and other) forums to help people who are struggling with CPAP. Efficiency with words is one way that he's able to help so many. And when things get light in long-running threads he plays along with everybody else very nicely.

He's also on a campaign to quash misinformation (including my own posts) - and this is incredibly important given the fact that anxious newbies show up here every single day. Nothing worse than uncertainty for a newbie. This is done in a terse manner - so what?

Anyways - welcome to the forum, I guess. Please spend some time reading the forum if you'd like to contribute in a meaningful way.

Palerider talks rough and backs it up every day. He has my respect and I think is the kind of guy I could sit down with and have a beer (or two) with.
You however. It remains to be seen. Toughen up a little. This forum can be good for you. If you let it.

Personally I hate Palerider's snark remarks. I am certain that my experience mirrors many: I came to this board when I was at my weakest and my health condition being the most precarious. I found that Palerider's comments were often tangential and his attitude was always condescending. It made me felt belittled and made me not want to engage with the forum. I would be surprised if I am the only one feeling this way.

Further, most successful forums have some form of strong moderation because characters such as Palerider do a great job at diverting serious conversations into needlessly flamey hate-wars and pointless arguments. CPAPTalk would be so much more useful to me & the community in general if a strong team of moderators stood up and banned this type of behavior.

No, let's be honest and be able to properly call a spade a spade. There is absolutely no reason why responses need any tones of condescension/arrogance etc in them. Newcomers to this forum are visiting CPAPTalk because they have not been able to get sufficient help from their health care providers. One should be able to emphasize with that state of mind and understand that a lot of these people are desperate and looking for help. I was definitely in that camp; and many-a-time I was rudely flamed for asking serious questions. There was a lot of good, too, but the negativity was unnecessary and distracting. This is not 4chan. This is not reddit. If people were looking for "lols" I think it would be reasonable to assume that there are other forums that would be more appropriate for that.

This forum would shine brightest if there were some enforcement over what kind of content was allowed. I mean really, when I am searching for threads relevant to my condition here, I have to sift through post after post of jokes and unnecessary commentary which clouds my ability to source relevant data.

JediMark has a legitimate concern here and half of the responses are memes and random banter. I'm not trying to be the fun police, but man is it frustrating as a user. HackerNews is a forum that has a very high standard for their discussion criteria and because of that they attract a smart, civilized audience and generate a lot of useful information. I think a lot of the forum rules which they mention should just apply here as a no-brainer, especially the following: "Be civil. Don't say things you wouldn't say face-to-face. Don't be snarky. Comments should get more civil and substantive, not less, as a topic gets more divisive." Doesn't this seem like it should be common sense?

EDIT:

BTW, I am not trying to be combative or spark unnecessary drama. But, I think the goal of this forum and it's contributors should be to contribute the greatest amount of help to the greatest number of people. I just don't see how the attitude of certain members is helping to achieve this goal. Even if nothing formal is to be changed, at least a slight shift by frequent forum posters to being a bit more mindful about how their responses may come off to newcomers/the rest of us who are cpap-exhausted may go a long way. Pugsy + that granny character (can't remember the username specifically) by the way, are awesome and i'm certain their wealth of knowledge and helpful attitude have improved if not even saved many lives.

If you want a heavily moderated forum there are plenty out there. Why do you want to change what makes this place special.

If you like moderation and censorship there are plenty of places you can find it. I came here with an ahi of 5-7 a night massive leaks with a mask that didn't work for me and I was ready to throw my machine away. Thanks to pugsy and pale rider and their patience and knowledge, I now have an ahi of under 1 most nights. I have two masks that I can switch out and use comfortably and I've learned a lot.

As a sleep deprived cranky old lady, I can assure you I would not have tolerated some goody two shoes giving me a lecture on what was appropriate or not. This place fills a void that other places don't. So if you want the other more moderated forum then I suggest you go find one and leave our crabby little family alone.
