User Review (Derek): Respironics Encore Pro Software

Post by forumadmin » Fri Mar 11, 2005 2:19 pm

Howdy cpaptalkers,

Derek has done our little corner of cyberspace a great service with his Encore Pro review. It's got pictures, it's well organized, and it's just generally excellent. I strongly suggest you check it out if you are at all interested in Autos or tracking your treatment stats with software.

Derek,

Wonderful review! I for one am extremely grateful for your taking the time it took to put this together.

The timing of this is brilliant for me personally because I just took delivery of my Respironics auto CPAP with C-Flex and heated humidifier today. I talked my doctor into going straight to this machine for my initial treatment; your review now confirms what I was already suspecting... it won't be long before I order the software and card reader. I am having a so-far fabulous experience with my local DME; he overnighted in the unit and delivered it to my house rather than have me trek to his office. But, he is by-the-letter and won't sell me the software/card reader. Times like this that cpap.com is extremely useful even for those of us who had to go through a local DME to get any kind of insurance recovery.

snamvar,

Just put a link in your favorites (or bookmarks). That way you can always open it up in your browser window. You can also select "make it available off-line" if you browser has the available to select. Then you will be able to view it without being connected to the net.
Sincerely,

Excellent review Derek. It should be published more widely than only on this board in my view and should certainly be included in the encyclopoedia, along with the review of the Remstar Auto.

Hi Derek,

Have been on therapy since January with Respironics Auto/Cflex with Activa mask ( I understand this is same set up as you have). Just got the the card reader and latest version software yesterday and had hoped to install it sometime this year - very technically challenged!

With your wonderful report I expect to install it this weekend with much more confidence and understanding of the reports and process.

Your report is great! Easy to follow, informative and most of all, sensitive to end users like myself.

Thank you so much for your time and expertise!

All the best.

Hi unclebob,

You're right - Derek's clear instructions are a wonderful confidence builder!!

When you start the software installation, the installing wizard will present a window fairly early on...a window that lets you choose which type of card reader you have. My installation gave the choices of "USB" and "PCMIA". Since "USB" was already highlighted in that window, I thought that meant USB was already chosen, so I simply hit "Next". Got a message: You have not made modifications to your system, blah blah....and the installation can't proceed.

Took awhile for me to figure out what it meant I "hadn't done", and what/where modification it needed. It wants you to actually click a little box in front of one of the card reader choices during the installation. The fact that one card choice is highlighted doesn't mean that it has actually been "selected" yet. Gotta click it to "select" it.

Fascinated
