Re: Two nights - what?
It helps if you actually ask a question, instead of just walking in, slapping down a couple pictures and saying "well?"

Re: Two nights - what?
Apparently, I wake my partner at around 6.
I have no idea why there is this pattern. Hours of comparatively dull sleep, and then something happens around 5.30 am.
Is this something others have experienced? Any insight?

Re: Two nights - what?
I just had another night with the same pattern. This time It woke me, and I could not get the mask to settle at the high pressure, so I turned the machine on and off again, so that i could get to sleep with ramp.
As you can see, the same pattern repeated in miniature in the last part of the night.
Does anyone have any idea what might be happening?

Re: Two nights - what?
Sleep/wake/junk false positives maybe????
Go here and watch the videos and learn about asleep breathing compared to awake or arousal/post arousal breathing.
http://freecpapadvice.com/sleepyhead-free-software
SWJ isn't just false positive centrals. It can be any category event. These machines can't tell if we are asleep or awake.
The only measure air flow. It's possible for the machine to respond to false positives/SWJ flagged events.

Re: Two nights - what?
I watched the videos. As far as I can tell, I am genuinely asleep when the apneas begin. I don't see the spiky arousal waves.
I am not sure if I should change any of my settings. I could lower my maximum pressure, but I'm not sure if that would help.

Re: Two nights - what?
If they are real it might be either related to supine sleeping or REM or both. Usually they need more minimal pressure.
Those wee hours of the morning happens to be when we have more REM.

Re: Two nights - what?
That makes sense - I think.
I had a straight CPAP in the past, so never saw this kind of effect before.
I can try increasing my minimum pressure, and see what effect it has.

Re: Two nights - what?
I cinched my mask down tighter to fix leaks, and used a remzzz mask liner, but I am seeing the same effect in last night's graphs
As you see, the leaks begin when the pressure gets high.
I slept through all this (and all the phone calls my hubby made between 6.30am and 7am in an attempt to wake me for work - he was travelling)
Any ideas as to how I can start to figure out if this is REM sleep or a postural thing?

Re: Two nights - what?
You should have had other REM episodes during the night so I don't think REM alone or we would expect to see more of those clusters and higher pressures.
I would lean toward supine sleeping....or maybe special case of supine and REM combined if you presumably had REM earlier in the night but was maybe on your side.
Maybe try to fix up something to for sure keep you on your side if at all possible. I know it's easier said than done but it might give you your answer.

Re: Two nights - what?
OK I'll have to try something to make sure I don't roll over onto my back. Hmmm....
I used to check my sleepstages with a Zeo - until that closed down, and then with a Basis watch - until that closed down. I have a Withings/Nokia Pulse Ox, but it doesn't seem very accurate. It just indicates awake, deep and light sleep.

You can still use the zeo.katestyles wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 5:36 pmI used to check my sleepstages with a Zeo - until that closed down,

Re: Two nights - what?
I tossed the zeo a while back - no spare parts and I had given up on cpap so it seemed unnecessary. *sigh*
So I have been looking for ways to avoid rolling onto my side, and have been trying to limit the leaks.
I have some concern that 20cm of pressure might simply not be enough....

Have you tried a soft cervical collar to prevent your chin tucking, it may reduce your pressure needskatestyles wrote: ↑Fri Feb 22, 2019 4:46 pmI tossed the zeo a while back - no spare parts and I had given up on cpap so it seemed unnecessary. *sigh*
