Recommendations for a non-travel CPAP for travel?

I recently got a Transcend Auto for an upcoming Grand Canyon Colorado River paddling trip, as well as frequent camping going forward...and it's just not working for me. I believe the main issue is that there's too much back pressure when I exhale, even with the EPR on its highest setting - and it wakes me up. So I'm thinking of picking up a unit that is not officially for travel, but works well for that use. I'm looking to spend up to $500, and my current at-home machine is a ResMed S10.

The ResMed S8 looks nice and compact and has the transformer built-in, so that's nice for travel. Same with the DeVilbiss Intellipap I've seen someone else recommend here.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

...aaand, anyone want to buy a lightly used Transcend auto with 12v adapter?

Look on Craigs list and sometimes on here and you can get a used Resmed S10 within your budget .

Good thought, but two issues with that:
- Big, heavy power brick
- Leaving for Grand Canyon in 11 days, so need to make this happen quickly

To add to my OP, besides Intellipap and S8, looks like a System One is another option that can be used without humidifier and, when on DC 12v, no power brick.

S9s are pretty compact without the humidifier and are available on eBay pretty much constantly.

Though I agree the Air*10 line SHOULD have been called the ResMed S10... but they're not.

I believe you still need the full-size power brick if you want to use 12V DC, which I usually do.

I've never had an S8 in my hands, but I've read a number of posts from people that really liked them as a travel machine, simply because they are compact. I don't remember ever reading anybody complaining about them.

I have had one in my hands but never used it...it is slightly more compact but not all that much smaller than the S9 without the humidifier attached. Main plus is that it doesn't seem to have that annoying power brick.

Hmm...I think the S8 actually still needs a power brick if I want to use it on 12v DC power.

That's a good price point if an s9 ends up being practical for you. With Priority Mail shipping option you would definitely get it with plenty of time to spare for backup plans.

Well...I'm starting to think I should just bring my Air10 for the Canyon trip and figure this out after. My primary reason for getting the Transcend was to get more nights out of my batteries for this extended wilderness trip. I don't think any of these other options I've been contemplating offer any advantage over my Air10 in that respect.

Less bulk and not having to pack up my home CPAP every time I travel/camp will be nice going forward, but not that big a deal for this particular trip.

So, given that I have a ton of packing to do, I think I will circle back around to this in September.

I'm only a pedantic jerk about that because it can cause confusion to new people trying to look stuff up... they might think it's the "aircurve 10 S"... or not find as many references as they should, etc.
