ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet vs S9 AutoSet PRICES

Post by MurrayNevada » Thu Jul 19, 2018 2:03 pm

Anyone have an idea why these two machines are priced similarly by our sponsor? I would think the AirSense AutoSet should cost more because it is newer technology. Or perhaps the S9 has features not offered by the AirSense machine.

S9 might have comparable value if you have an investment in supplies or are just comfortable with that model, and presumably there is reduced supply. AirSense 10 adds AutoRamp, SmartStart, and EPR, which seems like a good bit of added value.

I would take the 9 over the 10. Recently bought one with 15 hours on it as my back up. Supplies mean nothing..filters and standard hoses fit both. Humidifier cups last forever and rarely need replacing.

S9 also has SmartStart, & EPR. S9 has separate humidifier...easy to remove for travel. If something goes wrong with humidifier on Airsense...too bad. With the S9 you can replace the humidifier.

That's odd, I'm looking at a comparison right now that says otherwise. I never had an S9 though, so perhaps it's wrong.

You are making the assumption that the selling price of products is based on their cost to the supplier. This is not the case. Selling prices are based on a combination of supply, demand, competition and a host of other factors.

BTW, when the 10 came out, I compared it to my AutoSet S9. For my needs, the S9 is a better machine. So, I bought an extra machine in order to extend the years I can enjoy the S9. The smaller size for travel was a top factor. (I rarely use a humidifier.)

It's a newer *model*, but the air10 is basically a s9 turned on it's end, so it's taller, and takes less desk space.

They're nearly identical in actual function.

Nope, it's just wrong.. or maybe out of date. Did they perhaps add those features to the S9 after releasing the AirSense 10? Seems unlikely.

Law of Supply in Demand?

Is the S9 still popular and selling. High demand = High price
