This statement ignores a host of factors, the most basic of which is the supply side. If the supply side is able and willing to provide a high supply, the price may be very low.

In the case of the S9, it would seem the supply side is not willing to make many available. And, you know, distributors do not like to carry items with a low turnover, so there is no incentive to keep a low price.

S9 might have comparable value if you have an investment in supplies or are just comfortable with that model, and presumably there is reduced supply. AirSense 10 adds AutoRamp, SmartStart, and EPR, which seems like a good bit of added value.

That's odd, I'm looking at a comparison right now that says otherwise. I never had an S9 though, so perhaps it's wrong.

Nope, it's just wrong.. or maybe out of date. Did they perhaps add those features to the S9 after releasing the AirSense 10? Seems unlikely.

What features? Smartstart and EPR? which S9, there's about 14 of them.

Autoset? No, the S9 autoset has *always* had smartstart and EPR.

You need better reference materials than some crap written by 'buddy t'.

All credibility went out the window with this line: "CPAP machines create air pressure by sucking in oxygen from the surrounding atmosphere."

They suck in the surrounding atomsphere, it's called AIR. it's normally about 78% nitrogen, about 21% oxygen, a variety of other gasses making up the rest.

I didn't even bother to figure out how much other dribble is in that article.

My at home machine is an Aircurve VPAP. I also have a backup machine which is the S9 Bilevel. It sits in its case ready to go with me to any destination. I have all the tubing and a mask in the pack.

It was interesting to see LSAT's comment about the humidifier. If it dies does the machine become inoperative?

I think it may depend on which part of the AirSense/AirCurve machine that dies that makes the humidifier work.
There is that side plate thing that totally removes the humidifier from the situation and there's the fact that even with the water chamber in place the humidifier can be totally turned off.
So we know that you don't just have to have the humidifier on and being used to use the AirSense/AirCurve machines.
The water chamber can be removed and the side plate end thing used and a person can also simply turn off heated humidity with the water chamber in place.

As for whatever the one website to ionsleep which commented on features....that's an online DME and someone's interpretation of things. If someone wants to really compare features...go directly to the ResMed website...the information is there and accurate.
Sometimes promo copy at websites like the ion place doesn't get it accurate.

Your nomenclature is not meaningful. Aircurve is the new name for vpap. S9 machines had vpaps, air10 machined have aircurves, there are 5 different aircurves, none called vpap. (S, ST, ST-A, ASV, Vauto)

There were about 9 different s9 bilevels, all called VPAP something, including Auto, S, ST, Adapt, ST-A, Tx, with multiple models of some of those.
