I actually have a ResMed name brand "mesh" filter like those knock offs and you can see right through it also. It seems to be what ResMed is putting in the new AirSense machines...that "mesh" looking filter. I had one in a ResMed sealed package that came with a machine and to be honest I couldn't tell any difference between the name brand "mesh" filter and the generic mesh filters. Certainly not enough to justify the difference in pricing that I have seen for name brand vs generic.

i would change mine every 6 months or sooner if you notice the filter starting to get black
