AirSense 10 filters

How often are you supposed to change these?????

When they get dirty.

I think the manual says 6 months or sooner if they need it and that's what I mean about getting dirty.
Some people live in homes that aren't very dusty and their filter might not get yucky looking for the 6 months or longer.
Others like myself do good to go a month before they start getting really gray and yucky looking.
I also prefer the fine white filter instead of the mesh like filter that comes with the machine...and the fine filters just get dirty sooner because they catch more dust and stuff due to how they are made.

I live in a relocated piecemeal farmhouse (year round passive ventilation),
---within 300 feet of a busy coal train rail corridor--DUSTY!
3 weeks, and my anti-allergen filters are grayish.
If I try to use them any longer, my allergies act up.

Until you figure out how often you need to change them... check 'em every month. if it's dirty at a month, check it more often.

How often will depend on how dusty it is, in your bedroom.

My DME supplier told me the filter should be replaced every two weeks. You don't suppose they want to sell more supplies, do you? Do you?

I read the manuals.
How many of you folks read your car manual? These days, cars can scratch your butt, if you can find the switch!

It's really funny how the DMEs will tell people that they need to replace something about as often as they can sell them a new something and have insurance pay for it.

I saw an EOB the other day with the (a single disposable) filter billing out at $47. Now I know they won't get anywhere near that but they gotta have some pretty big balls to bill out a filter at that amount. Geez. I thought mine was bad at $17. Insurance doesn't approve near that price but still....
I've only used my DME once for filters in 9 years. I can buy in bulk online so the per unit price is less than my co pay using insurance and it's a lot more convenient for me since I rarely get anything but my once every 6 month mask from my DME. Besides my DME doesn't carry the file filter that I prefer and in fact didn't know about them (how sad is that) until I showed them.
And with buying in bulk I get them mailed to me instead of my having to drive 20 miles to the DME and make sure I get there during their open office hours.

Duh. and mask cushions every couple weeks, and masks every 3 months, and headgear every 6, and humidifier tanks every 6...

DMEs are basically "Throw away perfectly good stuff and pay use more MONEY!!!".

So what is the fine filter that you prefer? Reading ads on Amazon, I couldn't detect any differences between those offered, though I could have missed something.

Fine filter is on the left and 2 "mesh like" filters on the right from 2 different generic filter companies. See image below.
They make "fine" and "hypo allergenic fine" filters. I don't remember which one this one was...and to be honest I can have the fine and hypo allergenic fine in my hands at the same time and if I didn't know which package they came out of I can't really tell the difference between the 2 fines.
Now the mesh and the fine...easy to see and feel the difference.
ResMed makes all 3...fine, hypo fine and the mesh.

So do all the companies doing the generic knock offs.

Resmed is real proud of theirs and it's reflected in the price and so you can't find them online often especially at good prices.
To be honest. I have used both name brand and generic in both the mesh and fine and hypo fine and can't really tell that the ResMed is worth the extra money.
You can fine the generic ones everywhere. If you want to look at the difference look for the word "fine" in the product description.
Cpap.com has their own generic brand. The best bulk deals are usually Amazon or EBay.

He used to sell them on EBay but haven't seen him there in a while. He might have got his hands slapped by ResMed for selling name brand products on EBay.

As you can see in that photo, the knock off brand filters are so thin you can see through them. However, if you don't have allergies, they are good enough to prevent things like dog fur from getting into your machine. The Resmed brand ones appear to be hypoallergenic. I use them in the summer as they reduced my allergy problems (I tried with and without). I use knockoffs the rest of the year since the windows are closed.

Currently, we have a lot of construction going on locally, so as soon as that starts, I have to change filters every other week to every 3 weeks. In the winter, I just change them once a month as I'm using knockoffs and they don't cost much.
