There are international standards for measuring noise. ISO 9614-2 is one so if you see manufacturers quoting noise ask what standard they are using then you can compare apples to apples.
From what I have seen (heard) the M-Series is the loudest.
Who has the quietest APAP?
I've got two (2) PB420E machines. The one I bought in May 2006 that I use every night is much quieter (as of this writing) than the other [(my back-up ('coz I live here in Saudi Arabia)] which I bought just a couple of months ago. The first few months I used my first machine, it was a little bit loud and now it's very quiet especially now with a humidifier; hence, I'm indeed happy with its overall performance in treating my OSA. All I need to do with my back-up machine, perhaps, is to give it a little time as well when I start using it.
LOL I just seen that old thread! those weren't out of orderrested gal wrote:Sound insulated box.... reminds me of this thread of long ago...

Had hoped the link to the foam might be there, but sadly no.
Incidentally, to anyone reading that thread -- when TAS changed the format of their message board quite some time ago, some of the old posts got copied out of order during the massive switch-over. I think the post about 12 posts down was really the first post that started that topic...the post by <gothose>.
Gets a tad confusing when some posts seem to be talking about something that doesn't get mentioned until much later in a thread. But there is some very good discussion in that topic about how to build a safe soundproof box.
