Has anyone had the problem on exhaling with the swift mirage, that your nose billows out and makes it harder to exhale? I have found that with just a slight pressure that it is easier to exhale. does anyone make a nose clamp that can put just a little pressure and not close off the nose, kind of like a swimmers nose plug? thanks Rod
Problem with using Swift Mirage
Re: Problem with using Swift Mirage
Hello Rod,
If you plug your nose a bit like you say, would that not interfer with the inhale pressure coming in?
I do not follow why your nose would billow out and make it harder to exhale. Are you having trouble exhaling at a high pressure, or what you find hard. Have you had this problem with other interfaces or with the swift and at lower pressure?

Selfseeker, you snuck a post in there while I was typing mine!
I only used the Swift for about 3 weeks, and then turned it in. I haven't seen your problem detailed, but am guessing that you may need larger nasal pillows. The three sizes that come with it are the only ones available, as far as I know.
Often people find that going up a size from what their RT recommended works best for them.
I have also found that if I fiddle and adjust the nasal pillows, it will make me feel as if I can breathe better with any of the ones I've tried. With the Swift, loosening the straps a bit often helps.
If you lie down while adjusting everything, it also seems to work better.
There are an awful lot of folks using the Swift on the forum. Hopefully they will be able to help you more.

HI I put a lite touch to the outside of my nose to stop the billowing and it makes it easier to exhale. It dosen't affect the pressure coming in at all. I am not plugging my nose, just stoping the billowing. It almost feels like the pillows are colapsing on exhalition. but just barley touching the outside of my nose stops all of this. What I did last night was I took a dust mask and cut the little metal strip off of it and put it on my nose and it worked great, but it kept falling off, so tonite I am going to tape it on and see if it stays on. I was hoping someone made a device for this. Thanks Rod

Uh, oh, you are starting to lab rat your Swift already.
Rested Gal may have to give you the newest user to lab rat award.
This sounds even more to me as if you need larger pillows. Just my humble opinion.
