how does TSA screen your bi-pap machien for explosives

hello I am flying on a airplane in the next 6 days and I was just wondering every time I go through security at the airport they always ask to see my bipap machine to check it for explosives how do they check it besides putting it through a screening device i'm always afraid they are going to drop it by the way my bi-pap is my carry on

Most of the time they don't even remove it from the basket...you just need the case open.

If you put it in a carry-on nothing should happen to it... they often don't bother at all.

They have 4 little people inside that "X-Ray" machine, they take everything apart, never fear, some of them even have GED's. Jim

They have a wand-like tool they pass over the object. If explosives are around the tool will let them know.

At my usual airport, when we're lining up for security check, security personnel will ask one of us to present our hands for a swipe.

They probably use some judgment about whether or not they will swipe your equipment.

I've flown twice with my CPAP, it just goes in one of the bins and goes through the xray machine.

I just flew this past week with my APAP, in its carryon case, clearly marked “medical equipment”. For the first time, I was instructed at all scanners to remove the actual machine from its case and set it separately in a bin. At one airport I was also made, after the machine had gone through the scanner, to connect the cord, find the nearest outlet, and turn on the machine. I guess to prove that it wouldn’t have blown us all to smitterens? First time in many flights that I have been required to Do any of these things. But then, it’s been almost a year since I last flew. My flights consisted of USA to Canada and return. It was on the return flight that I was required to turn the device on. Oh, I also was required to turn on both my phone and pad.
