Yes, it sounded iffy from the start.chunkyfrog wrote:Ooooh, busted!

wow- that's messed up. Did you really sell a brand new Auto Dreamstation, then ask for a donated one? Why would you do that? I'm hoping you have a good explanation. There are lots of people on here willing to help others in need, but this needs some explaining. I'd hate to think you sold a Medicaid provided new machine.

Attempt to silence whistle, replaced with Dust Bunny sounds of choking and coughing, not going into their noisy mating all night.hobbs wrote:Up next; when Dust Bunneys attack!HoseCrusher wrote:I'll go one step further...
Pick up a 10' hose (about $10 on Amazon) and place the machine under your bed. The extra distance will diminish the sound.
Kind of weird, XPAP users can't read the simple rules, Don't place XPAP on the floor, it's not a I-Robot, but it will act like one, in a very small area. Jim

Yeah, I was frowning at that one. Put one under my bed and you're asking for trouble, I don't care how many filters there are. Sucking in a lotta dirt and dust under my bed.Goofproof wrote:Attempt to silence whistle, replaced with Dust Bunny sounds of choking and coughing, not going into their noisy mating all night.hobbs wrote:Up next; when Dust Bunneys attack!HoseCrusher wrote:I'll go one step further...

Mine is sitting on the other side of my nightstand on a shelf that's higher than my bed and lower that the nightstand. A long time ago I think i remember reading on here that someone did some DIY on a Styrofoam cooler to cover the machine. The DIY part being to make sure there was enough ventilation that the machine didn't overheat and had good air circulation but would still cut down on the noise.
EDIT: And here is that old post (or at least one of them) just in case someone else reading this really does want to muffle the machine noise, you could try this:
OutaSync wrote:When my machine was new it was very noisey and I couldn't stand it. I took a styrofoam cooler and covered my machine, making cutouts for the hose to exit and the air to intake. Worked like a charm, but one day I forgot to put the cover on and realized that it wasn't as noisey any more. Maybe I just got used to it and wasn't in such a panic that I would never be able to sleep with all of this horrific equipment. Or maybe the machine needed some breaking in time.
I wish you luck and I promise that if you don't give up on it, it will get better. It's a whole lot to get used to at one time.

I don't think there are any Dust Bunnies under my bed, no room under there, too much other stuff stored under there, no room for dust bunnies, but then again, I'm scared to look under there! Jim
Noise: Fix the leaks or put the unit on a mouse pad to from keep noise low.

My great niece was terrified of "dust bunnies"--when she was a wee tyke.
They gave a stuffed floppy rabbit to the dog to play with. (They called it his "dust bunny")
I think it helped.

Re: Can ANYONE donate a AutoPap - This whistling is driving me
Sorry for any confusion with my recommendation... Let me expand it a little.
The idea is to reduce noise. Distance and obstacles in the noise path do that.
The 10' hose allows the machine to be further away.
Buy a Bankers Box and fold the lid. Turn the lid upside down and you have a 16.5" X 13" tray. Put a mouse pad in the middle, layer a silicone baking sheet on top of the pad and then place your machine on top of that.
Slide the whole thing under your bed.
After a good nights sleep you will have lots of energy to sweep, vacuum, chase the cats, dogs, and grandchildren from under the bed and all if this will help control any dust that forms.
To monitor your progress with dust, check your filter frequently.
I have only been at this for a little over 7 years. My machine lives on the floor. My wife does not hear it. I do not hear it. I keep the floor clean and have had no problems with my air filters.
While this works for me I will add that YMMV.

I keep mine on the floor too but I don't think that is the problem here. Not hearing from this OP doesn't help his cause.

Hopefully now that this clown has been shown to be a ripoff, he should be reported to Medicaid, or whatever.Jimmycrackhorn wrote:I'm trying.
This machine intake on my remstar pro whistles loudly.
I literally tried sleeping without the machine for a week and couldn't. I had massive, horrible fatigue.
So I went back on it and feel sleep good the first night and did OK.
But then last night, again, I started hearing that whistling. I have had this happen so many times it literally give gives me massive anxiety and I can't fall asleep after.
I have tried everything to stop it.
I need a new machine if there is anyone willing to donate. My Medicaid will not pay for another machine yet so I'm screwed. The machine I'm using is my room mates because he has auto-trial time left that I do not do I can't exchange it for a different machine.
Please if there's anyone that can help please message me. I'll even try to work out a payment plan for later. Private message me if you can help. I'm literally suffering horribly lately and I can't take much more.
PLEASE.
And thanks.

YA I HAVE A GOOD EXPLANATION ASSHOLE!
I'M SUFFERING AND MY LIFE IS IN RUINS FROM MY HEAD FEELING LIKE SHIT EVERY DAY TO THE POINT IM SUICIDAL AND EVEN THE PSYCH HOSPITAL SAYS, "Your symptoms won't subside until you get that sleep apnea problem figured out."
So when I tried the dreamstation it made me feel WAY Worse and with the anxiety I already have from 4 years of suffering horribly and getting worse so I couldn't wear it again and figured I'd sell it.
Meanwhile since I was weaning off Ativan that I was taking for massive insomnia from the GD torture this machine is doing to me every night I used the money to buy food and gas, since work even to this day is almost impossible at times due to how horrible I feel.
But good on you fucks for judging me not knowing a god damn thing about how horrible my life has become since starting this fucking machine.
Go fuck yourself after giving yourself A BIG pat on the back for playing CPAP police. You got me! Fucking idiot.

Welp, any inclination I might possibly have had to "donate" anything at all just flew out the window.Jimmycrackhorn wrote:Cardsfan wrote:wow- that's messed up.
